HOT Beach Wedding!!

Tarra, on May 1, 2017 at 10:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 148

I'm having a beach wedding in August... ITS GOING TO BE HOT! My reception is inside but for the Beach Ceremony I will have personalized ice cold water and fans. Is there anything else I can do to make my guest feel more comfortable during my 30 minute ceremony?

Air conditioning. A fan will never trump AC. Also, get a tent to provide shade.

Also, I gotta ask: what do you mean by personalized ice cold water?

    You can move it inside.

I'm sorry, fans and ice water will not make them (or YOU) any more comfortable. And for certain populations (elderly, pregnant) it's flat out dangerous.

Thirty minutes is too long for the ceremony anyway, and by the time you get through the seating, processional, ceremony and recessional, you're looking at more like 45.

Take photos on the beach, but spare your guests.

Well don't forget that wind will be a factor because it IS the beach. But definitely consider some sort of shade or hand out some fans for guests to cool off with. A.C. is always great, especially for the indoor part. Don't forget to have a sunscreen station for those that didn't think about the sun!

My sister got married in August on the beach at 5PM, and it was perfectly fine. We were right on the water. So the breeze helped too. To be honest, I don't think I sweated at all. We were out there approximately 20 minutes and took photos out there.

Ick. Why would you do that to your guests? This screams selfish. You want a beach wedding in FLORIDA of all places? Make it in December, January, or February. It's irresponsible and rude to have a beach wedding in August in St. Pete and no amount of 90-degree breeze blowing off the water is going to make it okay.

Ignore people calling you rude and selfish. It's YOUR wedding. You do you! You deserve the wedding you dreamed of no matter What! Everyone will be perfectly fine with water and fans. It's August they will know it is hot!

Lindsey, give me a break. Once you invite a single guest, it stops being about you. You might want to lurk more before offering advice.

Lol not true. The whole day is about the bride and groom and what they want! I've lurked plenty and still feel this way!

Then you must not read the "worst wedding you ever attended" threads because the attitude you're quoting is what's evident in every single one of the weddings mentioned.

I agree with you lindsey, when did weddings start only being about your guests? I like this site for tips and tricks but hate it for the women that think weddings should only be about what your guests want. Its your wedding ,do what you wish.

Courtney it isn't just weddings. When you host people, you need to do it properly or don't do it at all. I continue to be shocked by people who don't know this very simple concept that most of us learned in grade school when our parents hosted our birthday parties.

Oh yes, Lindsey, it's fine to "do you", when are the only one suffering through the consequences of your choice. Just don't make your guests "do you" when doing you means the possibility of them sweating through their clothes, feeling absolutely nauseated, developing a pounding headache, vomiting, or suffering from heat stroke. And if a senior citizen or pregnant woman begins to look a little unsteady, someone should just tell them to have a bottle of water with an imprinted label, fan themselves with a cute fan, and straighten up since the couple subscribe to theory of "do you". Bad advice.

August in Florida requires air conditioning -- or the ability to jump into the ocean and cool off.

This isnt about poor hosting. This is max 30 mins sitting on the beach. Your guests are adults right? The same rules apply for adults are smart enough to gift cash and not have to be asked in some cute saying ( which seems to be a popular excuse here) so why arent adults smart enough to dress and arrive accordingly to a beach ceremony?

Oh, I recognize that tone, lol. Hello again, Lindsey. You do realize that a statement like, "But I guess that is what happens when a bunch of women are on one site" is completely misogynistic, right? But hey, you do you.

I literally cant take serious most of the "worst weddings you've attended " responses on THIS forum particularly. Because you just can not please everyone. That is what makes is all great and unique . If you dont like something about someone elses wedding, then leave.

I know all about all things HOT! I live in Arizona so trust me when I say it is highly unlikely to have a Heat stroke on the beach with water and a fan in 30 minutes. I'm sorry your parents didn't listen to your wishes on planning your birthdays, mine always planned my birthday parties around ME not what my 3rd grade friends wanted.

I can't call you crazy -- it's a violation of the TOS. However, it's not really a big word. If you're a woman, it should be a word you already know.
