I'm having a beach wedding in August... ITS GOING TO BE HOT! My reception is inside but for the Beach Ceremony I will have personalized ice cold water and fans. Is there anything else I can do to make my guest feel more comfortable during my 30 minute ceremony?

Lindsey, she's saying that your guests shouldn't have to. At the end of the day OP is going to do what she wants, everyone getting up in arms isn't going to change that.

I have a feeling that NONE of the people calling us haters lives in Florida. Just last year someone was killed on Fort Myers Beach, in the summer, due to a lightning strike hitting the beach. Rainy season isn't just "a sprinkle here or there and maybe it wont rain". It's torrential downpours, similar to being in a car wash, and a shit ton of lightning. Again, 7:30? Totally doable and while hot, it wouldn't be unbearable. You will be working with high 80's, and light breeze and pretty heavy humidity. 5:00? Either flesh melting sun or dangerous weather.

Of course she is going to do what she was always going to do. And "no one complained". Not to her face anyway.

I didn't say anyone complained Celia. Just wanted to give Lindsey some advice so she stops arguing with everyone on this thread. Lol.

Lindsey, no one can do anything about the weather; it is what it is, and when it gets to a certain heat or frigidity, everyone is going to be uncomfortable whether or not (no pun intended) they knew what was in store.

I can tell you that if I 'looked at the weather of the destination" and it was in the 80's or above and the ceremony was outside?

    I'd stay home. Problem solved.

@Lindsey - I do look at the weather before I go on vacation. And guess what... dressing in a bathing suit and sitting IN A POOL didn't stop me from getting sun poisoning.

You can't always "dress appropriately" for that kind of heat and sun.

And you would have that option to stay home Celia that's why there is a "no" box on the RSVP

If you're concerned about the heat, that's a red flag. I would consider what guests you have and how they would handle the heat. I'm getting married in August and I'm also doing an outdoor ceremony. Like everyone was saying, it depends on where this wedding is taking place. My ceremony is on the water and in the shade. Where I live it won't be too hot for my guests.

    Point taken @JD

So..it's better, LIndsey, to create unbearable situations and leave it up to the guests to stay home?

Ah, that's the attitude towards hospitality that you're getting famous for. "FW#T%Qck em! It's my day! I'll do what I want and they can stay home if they don't like it."

How do you explain that to your grandma?

So you're okay with grandmother having to choose between her health and her desire to see you get married? Because that is what you are going to do to each and everyone of your guests.

FB99 because the ones who care most about seeing the ceremony will be there no matter what.

My grandparents would have been there without a doubt if they could.

Lindsey O, just quit while your ahead. Your opinion is in the minority and clearly it's upsetting you. Making derogatory comments and arguing with everyone on this thread isn't going to make them agree with you.

@Lindsey - you're right, I could. But, I would assume that if you're inviting me, you actually want me to be there. If you don't care about your guests' comfort, why invite them at all? You can save a TON of money cutting the guest list.

Upset is the last thing I feel I'm actually having a great day. Richard I'll be a great host but at the end of the day it's how my fiancé want OUR day to look!

@staci yes I do! It's so hot...I am dreading the summer this year!

@PP's, I just don't understand why people are fighting this. No one wants to destroy your dream of a lovely beach wedding, but you need to be aware of the dangers of proceeding with this plan. You asked, we replied. Florida is a hell hole from mid May to at least November, and before you have your dreams dashed the day of your wedding, you can prepare for it now.
