Hey guess what....I'll be 36 weeks preggo at your wedding!

Jacquelyn, on February 1, 2011 at 3:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 13

Got the news from a bridesmaid that she just found out she is pregnant. Not planned at all. She was so nervous to tell me. I would never not want her in the wedding! I want her in it because I love her and can't imagine her not being in my wedding! I told her that it is up to here....thats pretty darn far along in a pregnancy to be in a wedding! Has anybody else ever had a bridesmaid TOTALLY pregnant for your wedding? What did you do? Dresses etc....

My MOH gave birth 4 months before my wedding and one BM gave birth about two weeks before. Needless to say I had to make accomadations for them. I picked a high wasited flow dress and allowed them to pick their own shoes so they could wear flats if they wanted to. I am not sure how they would have felt being preggers in the wedding. Depending on how long your ceremony is perhaps you have the MOH and BMs sitting during it. OH and congrats to your BM

YEA!! Babies!!! They have very flattering maternity BM dresses....most of DB and Alfred Angelo's chiffon dresses would be good for them too...something light and comfy!

YES!!! One of my bridemaids sends me a text and says you're going to be an aunt again!!! I screamed in the middle of work, lol and she was so nervous to tell me. I feel the same way you do Jacquelyn B, I cannot imagine not having her standing next to me. I told her to let me know how she wants to do this because if she won't be able to stand for to long, and what kind of dress she will like and be more comfortable in. Anyhow I'm just so happy!!!

There are a lot of maternity dress options out there. The only thing I'd be concerned about is how much she'd be able to participate - I'm 35 weeks along this week, and I'm effing exhausted! Barring any complications in her pregnancy, there's no reason why she couldn't stand up with you and make it thru photos, etc. Just don't expect her to be on the dance floor all night! I'd recommend allowing flats (or slip ons such as flip flops - I see your wedding is in Sept, she might be experiencing a lot of swelling and fluid retention from the heat) as a footwear option as well Smiley smile

Agreed. Let the option be up to your BM for shoes and even design of the dress. If all your other girls are wearing fitted dresses -- let her have an empire waste with good ta-ta support and flow-y dress but in the same color. I would def give her the option to sit during the ceremony too-- it may look funny but I can bet you guests will understand!!

Be prepared for her not to be in the wedding if she goes into labor early/ she is on bedrest, or feels like a beached whale and doesn't want to be in public!!

I was 36 weeks pregnant in my brothers wedding (way back when!). The bride picked a dress that worked with my huge tummy and I stood up there as the most proud MOH ever! Some 25 years later, we still talk about it. I had been tired, on modified bed rest and was swollen, but let me tell you that the day of the wedding, nothing could have stopped me from enjoying my brother and sil's wedding! It is what it is.

My BM found out she was expecting recently totally not planned, but since my wedding is in 2012, she will have a kiddo by then. Good luck!

I seriously doubt you (or anyone my age, lol) watches One Tree Hill, but I love it. Last night they had a wedding episode and one of the girls in pregnant in the show and she had on the most adorable maternity dress that did not hide her belly. She looked beautiful! I tried to find a picture of it to post but I'll have to keep looking!

My cousin's MOH was due the day after the wedding...=p Also, the BMs were all barefoot so it was more comfortable for her. And she sat down when she needed to. =)

My sister was 8 months pregnant at my other sister's wedding. She found a dress that would work with a pregnant tummy. She had easy pregnancies, and it seemed like a breeze for her.

My recommendation- have each of your girls buy whatever dress style they want in whatever your color choice is. Then, the girl with the huge tummy doesn't stand out any more than she already will.

I'd give her the option of stepping down, but tell her you are so excited for her pregnancy and can't imagine getting married without her by your side- one way or the other. If MOH duties are too much for her, you understand.

And if you need more reassurance that it will be okay- look at irin's pictures! She's about to pop and still looks fabulous!

2 months into my engagement one of my bridesmaids found out that she was pregnant and she would be a little over 36 weeks around my wedding. I gave her the option if she wants to remain as a bridesmaid. She decided to step down early on. My wedding is now 10 days alway and she’s happy that she step down.

I think Pregnant bms are so cute... Smiley smile

I have been looking for long BM dresses at DB and they have several that could work. They're not expensive either... Smiley smile Some of them at $79.99 right now
