Help! Looking for an affordable destination wedding venue on/near the beach!!!???

Lauren, on August 4, 2012 at 12:30 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hi! I need help finding an affordable destination wedding location on/near the beach. Our budget is about $5.5k. It will be a small wedding of about 35 people. We have people flying to us from Atlanta GA, Miami Florida, England, South Africa, and Japan and we want to pick a location that is fun for the people flying so far to see us, make it kind of like a vacation destination but also have our wedding be a part of it! Unfortunately though I think we need to keep it in the US on the East Coast, so it has limited me a bit on options. Does anyone know of an affordable/fun wedding venue for this type of event? We preferably want a ceremony on the beach, and then a reception outside under a tent afterward but are totally flexible if something else sounds interesting or fun! Any suggestions will help! Thank you!

Thank you! I just checked out the website and it is a beautiful place! I went ahead and sent an email to request more information, so we will see what the price is like when I hear back. Thank you for you help! Anyone have any other places I should look at?

Cool. Let me know how you make out. I planned a trip to Myrtle that fell through and that was the only resort that was up to the level that I like. lol You know beach towns have a lot of motels and older properties. Did you see the Pier?

Try Tybee Island or Jekyll Island.

My friend had a wedding on captiva island, Florida on the gulf coast. It was beautiful! PS he was the groom and picked out the place!

The Seagulls Nest, in Sandy Hook NJ (nearish to AC) is cute, beach side and has a rooftop space for the reception.

What about a rental house? Our friends rented a house that slept 25 people? that was all in beds. I am sure adding a few air mattresses would not have been a problem because the place was huge. They had the wedding on the grounds under the arbor by the pool, used the pool area for the reception. It was wonderful. They cooked the meals in the house and for the wedding they had a caterer come in. It was in Destin, FL. Now they are using the same site for all their family reunions vrbo.com It maybe worth a look. Good Luck

Lots of beautiful places along the Florida coast and that is a nice time of year too. You might try Key West, Pompano Beach or Naples (prettiest beach I have ever seen).

Myrtle Beach is great! Ill look for some good venues for you. I worked there for 4 summers. If you need a photographer, let me know! I can work within your budget, and it is nothing for me to make a trip down there. Smiley smile
