Hi, still relatively new to WW and this will be my second post. So everyone in my family keeps talking about my bridal portraits and blah blah blah, BUT I'm personally not keen on having them done. I just don't see the need for the added expense especially since my fiancé and I are paying close to 85% of this wedding ourselves.

Has anyone NOT had them and regretted it or has anyone had them and then regretted it? I know it's more of a 'personal choice' question, but I figure since we're going to have an amazing wedding photographer, he will get some excellent shots and I could possibly use one of those instead.

I'm the first person in my family to get married and have an actual wedding (my sister and BIL went to the courthouse and it was very lovely) in close to 18 years so my entire family is in over-drive with planning lol. My grandma is darn near obsessed and is just so tickled and can't stop talking about 'your bridal portraits'.

I didn't do them. I actually don't know anyone that has done them.

Not doing them. Although I finally realized my grandmothers's "Bridal Portrait" from the 1950's has been hanging on her wall the entire time. Just had no clue what it was.

I had never heard of bridal portraits until SYTTDATL. I guess if they come in the package they are ok but if not I don't see the added expense.

I think it's ridiculous and a waste of money.

I had never heard them until I found WW. I'm in Southern California so I am thinking maybe it's not in this part of the country. So no I am not doing them and I don't really see the point, personally.

I have never even heard of bridal portraits. Aren't they pictures of just you? My photographer is taking photos of just me at my wedding. Why would I need separate bridal portraits. Never heard of such a thing but I am up in Indiana lol.

I did not know they were "a thing" either until I joined here. So, nope!! I'm sure you can still ask your photographer for 15mins. of pictures on your own though if you'd like some individual shots. Try to schedule them into your timeline.

I didn't even know they were a thing until I came to WW. I will not be doing them, and don't regret my decision.

I'm planning on doing all of our wedding portraits (wedding party, family, bride and groom, etc.) In the morning before the ceremony, so I'll get a few taken then.

I didn't have them done, and haven't missed them in 18 years (yeah, I just come here for fun...). On the flip side, when my grandmother passed away, we found *hers*, and WOW-- it was wonderful to see her looking so young and beautiful! Of course, if I'd ever gotten to see her wedding pictures (she and Grandpa had been divorced for *years*), it might not have been so exciting.

I had never heard of bridal portraits until I joined ww. That being said my photographer took plenty of photos of just me and I don't regret not getting bridal portraits done.

I think they were more common many years ago and not just in the south. When my nursing school roomie got married in 1971, she had them done and then right after the wedding, one of the "portraits" was published in the local newspaper with a description of the wedding. It was kind of a "society pages" type thing--even though, believe me, none of us were high society!! I'm not having them done, I'm sure my photographer will manage to get a shot of me by myself at some point during the day.

I'm having them.. (Arkansas, lots of people do them here.) but really..the reason I'm doing them is because I'm dying to have pictures of me in my dress in a sunflower field and there is not one anywhere near our venue. However, I'm waiting til after our wedding to take them so I don't have to worry about my dress getting dirty and having to have it dry cleaned before the big day. If there were to be a field of flowers near our venue, I would not do them.

I also am not paying a ton for them. I have a good friend that takes pics on the side so she's going to do them for me if not for free at a low price. I'm not using my professional photographer that's taking my wedding photos for them.

Also not planning to do them. I do expect our photographer to get a couple of individual shots of just me and of just FH prior to the ceremony, though.
