Has anyone NOT had bridal portraits taken?

Hi, still relatively new to WW and this will be my second post. So everyone in my family keeps talking about my bridal portraits and blah blah blah, BUT I'm personally not keen on having them done. I just don't see the need for the added expense especially since my fiancé and I are paying close to 85% of this wedding ourselves.

Has anyone NOT had them and regretted it or has anyone had them and then regretted it? I know it's more of a 'personal choice' question, but I figure since we're going to have an amazing wedding photographer, he will get some excellent shots and I could possibly use one of those instead.

I'm the first person in my family to get married and have an actual wedding (my sister and BIL went to the courthouse and it was very lovely) in close to 18 years so my entire family is in over-drive with planning lol. My grandma is darn near obsessed and is just so tickled and can't stop talking about 'your bridal portraits'.

I'm not doing it and never known anyone who has. It's just not a think here. My photographer did offer it but I don't see a point.

Ok so here's a weird one. My DH, before his first marriage, had bridal a done WITH his wife. She got hair/makeup done. He rented a tux. She had a dress. But they were NOT the ones they wore at their actual wedding. And they had these huge poster sized prints made for their parents. He had never heard of this before but went along because he was young and dumb. But like why do it and not even use your wedding clothes?! I thought that was so strange.

Also I didn't get bridals done. With or without DH LOL

I wasn't going to do it. My aunt, who's the photographer, offered to take our engagement photos and bridal portraits. If she hadn't, I would have hired someone for engagement photos but not have done the bridal portraits. Bridal portraits seem like a "fluff" item to me.

I'm not doing them. Never heard of them before WW and I think it's a weird idea.

I grew up in Michigan, and now live in Florida. I never heard of bridal portraits before this forum. If you have a photographer for the wedding, I'm sure you'll still get several photos featuring just you.

I had no idea what that even was till here. I heard it's more of a southern thing.

I never considered for a second having bridal portraits, and I never heard of them until WW.

I just looked it up and found that it was a southern thing. I'm in California and all I know is the engagement session and the actual wedding photos. I want photos of me on the day of though.

Didn't even know they were a thing until this thread Smiley smile weddings are expensive enough, if you don't care about not having them done, it sounds like an expense you can skip!

I am not getting them done, but I have a great aunt who got them done and they are beautiful, but not for me

No clue if I am doing them or not. They are common where I'm from and my Meme is insistent I do the traditonal ones. The only reason I would do them is to get some photos of me on horseback but I can do them after the reception if I want
