Has anyone else gotten any funny RSVP's? RSVP frustrations?

Shiny, on August 8, 2012 at 12:30 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 39

I got a RSVP in the mail today that said two people would be coming and it had their food order but it didn't have their names. There was no return address on the envelope either. I have two days till my rsvp's are due and we still have over a hundred rsvp's out. I am not going to stress about it, but it is nice to rant.

My sister got one from a cousin of ours, it was as follows:

If my husband's not in town, 3 of us will be there

If my husband's in town for the whole weekend, 4 of us will be there

If my husband's in town for Saturday only, none of us will be there.

    -.-

One of my coworkers told be verbally that "they were coming" (I invited him and his wife) there would be 4 of them!! They would have to bring his inlaws cause they couldn't be left at home alone. I think my jaw dropped to the floor as I was fumbling with what to say to him- then he laughed and said he was joking, it would just be him and his wife. Talk about instant relief!! His son was just recently married so he knew his answer would get to me. After I breathed a sigh of relief I told him to be sure to mail the prestamped response card as soon as he could

His mom wrote in the name section, "We'll help anyway." I assure you, the tone was completely snarky.

Now his brother is saying he never got his, because their son is living in his old house since they moved into a place just down the street, and the son never gave it to them. So I'm expected to send another, with another stamp, and fighting the bloody printer to print the RSVP envelope when he couldn't take 30 seconds to fill out a freakin forwarding mail card??? I FB msgd him the info for the website and told him to RSVP to me on there or contact his brother. I'm sure there will be a fit about it, but I am beyond giving a d@mn when the RSVP deadline was last friggin week.

I've received a lot of verbal RSVPs as well. I put in their numbers, put am only putting the Y or N if I get a card, that way they are still counted but we know who bothered and who didn't.

I got one that instead of writing "Mr. So and So" on the line, they just wrote "me." Thank God he's the only one who lives in Spain! Lol.

How about handwriting a meal choice in that was not an option!

I have people who have rsvp 3,4,5 people. I am thinking really who does that. This is a wedding not a family reunion lol. I still have rsvps out but once my linen count goes in next friday thats it. The deadline was Aug1, but I was told people never rsvp on time.

I am having people send back their RSVP's back without checking yes or no...ugh.... So far got 2 out of 10 back like that, I hope it's not going to be a trend. Then my Matron of Honor sent hers back with no name on it lol...good thing I had them numbered in the corner, I thought she did it to be funny, but she really forgot...

    @ Dani..that's really funny...

@Shiny...That's funny too. what I did is that I put #'s on the back of the R.S.V.P so if any one came wo a name I could still know who it was from... But you're right don't stress over it...in that case if you're reallly worrying just add two more people to the list even though you dk who they are...

We just got one back yesterday "Laverne and Shirley" and my FH doesn't know which of his frineds this could be. We also got one that said 4 on the accept line and we only invited one! Funny but frustrating....I am choosing to laugh about it because with 66 days left that seems to be the only option!!!

I threw a shower for my friend and everyone was to RSVP to me, well I got a phone call from a blocked number and they said "I'm responding to _________ 's Shower I'm sure it was a mistake that my children were not on the invite so it will be me and my 6 kids."

1st um who are you and NO it was no mistake that your children were not invited.... so we had no idea who she was and no one could figure it out so at the party everyone got a little something with their name on it but they did and threw a huge fit... well if you don't tell me who you are then what am I supposed to do lol

Numbering them somewhere inconspicuous is a good idea (somewhere inside the envelope maybe?) ...i'll have to remember to do this. I think our invite list is pretty in tune to the wedding do's and dont's but you never know, I suppose.

I numbered mine, so far everyone has put their names on them, I did get one back from my cousin and his wife who I thought would just say no, she is pregnant and due the week before our wedding, so she put yes if not in labour... I missed theirs last year because I didn't want to put yes and not show up as I was due with my daughter the week after their wedding

I always write a note to the couple on the back of my RSVPs, because once I was the one who forgot to put my name on the card (although my return address was on the envelope...)

Ours were pretty good in getting back to us, only had a few we had to contact after the deadline.

My parents are paying for the majority of the wedding, so I know they are coming, but I still made them send back their RSVPs. My dad included a note with it. It said "P.S. for the wedding ceremony can I get a good seat near the front. Love Daddy". Well he's walking me down the aisle, so I think he'll get a good seat.

Two of our groomsmen have invited their mothers. Nice ladies but I barely know them.

Numbers on the back, that is brilliant! I wish I had done that now.

Something from the guest perspective...I frequently write in "meal choices" which I know is a no-no (I discuss this with the bride and/or groom before I do it though). The problem is that there are only meat/fish options and I can't eat either one. I used to only leave a meal choice for FI and leave mine blank and thought I'd eat beforehand, but that angered the brides too.....when your options are beef or stuffed shrimp....I don't have much of choice.

My friend actually had a big blank space for people to write or draw something on the rsvp. I didn't even read it! haha i just put yes and my name and when I got there she was showing them to us and how people drew some funny things. A few of us didn't even realize it LOL. But I thought it was a cute idea for people to show their creativity.
