Guest book...

Married, on February 22, 2013 at 11:24 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

Do you have to have one? I don't know if I even care or if I want to put the time into making something. I didn't want a normal guest book because I know I'll never look at it again.

We are doing an Eagles jersey for our guests to sign & then we will get it framed after the wedding.

I agree, a book gets stashed / lost. We had a book at our e-party and I can't even tell you where it is now.

I love the wine bottle idea, that's easy and I love wine.

@Lizz M. glad to know my instinct about the books was basically right. I've seen the jersey idea before, it's really cute.

We had our guests sign Christmas ornaments (December wedding) that we then put up on our tree. We had a photo book guest book that we forgot to put out, but I don't think it was missed. There's definitely some more fun ways of doing a guest book.

My FH wants to do the image on with a mat around it to sign. I feel that is so overdone and over with. So we compromised, I'm going to get our image printed on a canvas, and make the image smaller then the canvas so we will plenty of space to have our guests sign around it with pens.

I like the jengo game one myself... i know in my house, we LOVE playing games... I also had a friend who got a custom Monopoly game done and the guests signed the different spots and the board. It was cute.

Yea, I want something and was hoping to do a framed fingerprint tree but FH hates that. And I get it- then we will feel obligated to keep it up forever. So we are doing a photobook from shutterfly of our e-pics, so at least those get used too. And shutterfly has a fun set up where you can add things in like your funniest memory of the couple, so people can just sign or they can have fun with it.

We are doing a guestbook. Actually we are going to have 2. Our "formal" guestbook (the one where guests write their names and addresses) will double as a photobook. I made a photobook (it's more like a really sturdy coffee table book, with hard sturdy pages, rather than one of those flimsy hardcover, with flimsy paper books) with our engagement photos. That way when we look at our engagement photos, we will also have a reminder of who all attended our wedding. And I need to know who actually showed up and and their most current addresses so that I can mail off thank you cards to the right people at the right place.

Our other guestbook is a fun one. It's included with our photobooth package. Every photo strip our guest take in the photobooth, our attendant will put a copy in a scrapbook for us and have guests write something next to if (if they want).

I love ours! I made a photobook at adoramapix.com with our engagement photos. We'll use it as a coffee table book!

    Haha yay Candice Smiley smile))

Also, I'd like to buy a "day of the week neutral" calendar and have guests mark their birthday. I'd love to be able to send cards and I hate fb for birthdays!

I like the wine bottle idea. After you drink the wine, you could use the bottle as a vase.

We're getting big letters from hobby lobby to spell out our last name ( only 4 letters ) or you could do your initals with and &symbol and having them sign that.

FH and I are both born and bred Texans so our guestbook with a large wooden Texas with a heart over the city where we live. I love it and it's something we will display in our home. I purchased it off Etsy. They have tons of guestbook alternatives.

I saw one idea for the guestbook that had people take polaroids of themselves then attach it on a clothesline to a paper doily they wrote messages on. I would like to do this, or something similar. The only photobooth I saw for the area was outrageous for pricing.

We are using our photo booth as our guest book.. guests can sign next to their pictures and write messages.. or just keep coming back and taking more pictures! Smiley smile My sister did this.. we still look through it every so often for fun..

If we weren't doing that, we were going to do the engagement photo book.. I've seen that go well at weddings, because guests can check out the pictures too! Just make sure you have it out at the reception as well as the ceremony so that guests have time to sign in, because with everyone trying to look at the pics AND sign, the line tends to get "backed up"

We thought about adding something like these little cards to our guest book to mix in with the photo booth strips, but undecided right now..

You don't have to have one. Another idea is-- my sister framed our invitation with a wide, blank border and people signed that, then we put the glass in-- now we can look at it anytime cause it's on the wall.
