I was talking yo my sweet sweet grandma on the phone today and she told she bought an ivory pant suit for the wedding and wanted to know if it's okay. She said it has some burgundy accents but it's mostly ivory. Now, I don't think she's trying to upstage me, and I'm not worried about people mistaking her for the bride. I was just kind of shocked that she even bought and ivory wedding outfit to begin with, especially for a November wedding. When she asked me if that was okay, I was a little caught off guard. I told her I wasn't sure and wondered how it might look next to my ivory dress in photos. She did go shopping with me so she knows my dress. On one hand, she's old do she kiiiiind of gets a pass. On the other hand, she asked and I'm not sure how I feel about. Any advice or opinions on what you would do or how to handle it? Thanks.

This thread makes me miss my grandmother so much.......she was beautiful, and strong, and wise, and kind, and tough as nails when we needed it.......tearing up......

I love the shawl idea.....she'll look great!

@karen o. Same. I'm sorry that she won't be with you on your wedding day next year. I saw this thread earlier and couldn't even post.

She doesn't "kind of" get a pass.... she GETS a f*cking pass. Period. Some of us don't get to have our grandparents there.... I'd let mine dress like a stripper if she wanted- if she was still alive to be there.

HAHAHAHA, @Laura2.0! Your grandma rules! OP, you might want to put in your title "Update: Page 3" so you don't keep getting responses.

I can't believe this was a real question! You can't control what ANYBODY wears especially not grandma!

My MIL wore an ivory skirt suit to my wedding. It didn't matter in the least. She's going to look fabulous. I think in some areas it might be traditional for the MOG to wear beige? I've heard that but again I'm not totally sure. My mom wore an ivory lace skirt to my brother's wedding and a claret colored blouse. I think as long as the look isn't overtly bridal, it's ok.

I honestly don't even understand the question. She's your grandma and she's sweet and you love her. AND she's already bought it and it's a suit. I don't think it's a problem at all...

I wish my dad's parents were still alive to attend Smiley sad they died way too early...in my honest opinion...grandma at 56 from lymphoma, and grandpa at 70 from esophageal and other cancers Smiley sad...my maternal grandpa died because his biological children, my mom's half siblings made the decision to selfishly transfer him to hospice when he had an infection in his leg stump

My grandmothers have passed and would love to have them present in whatever. HOWEVER, if you have waited to have sex for marriage and if being the only one in white for purity/symbolism is very important to you because you have held strong if your faith I could understand that, and I think your grandmother would appreciate that reasoning. If not I would let grandma be grandma!
