I was talking yo my sweet sweet grandma on the phone today and she told she bought an ivory pant suit for the wedding and wanted to know if it's okay. She said it has some burgundy accents but it's mostly ivory. Now, I don't think she's trying to upstage me, and I'm not worried about people mistaking her for the bride. I was just kind of shocked that she even bought and ivory wedding outfit to begin with, especially for a November wedding. When she asked me if that was okay, I was a little caught off guard. I told her I wasn't sure and wondered how it might look next to my ivory dress in photos. She did go shopping with me so she knows my dress. On one hand, she's old do she kiiiiind of gets a pass. On the other hand, she asked and I'm not sure how I feel about. Any advice or opinions on what you would do or how to handle it? Thanks.

    My grandma wore a shade of ivory and she looked amazing.

    Let's be real an ivory pantsuit on a gma is not throwing shade like a frienemy wearing a bridal looking white dress to upstage you.

    I feel like this whole 'no one can wear white because of the bride' rule is completely ridiculous.

    My grandma will probably wear ivory/white. Do I care in the slightest? Nope. Grandma, and whoever else, can wear whatever they want to wear.

    I would just be thankful I had a grandma there so I'd let her where whatever she wanted. Oh how I wish mine could be there with us.

    You and your grandmother will both look great in your outfits. It shouldn't be a problem.

    If my grandma were still alive and could come to my wedding, I wouldn't give two shits about how whatever she wore looked like in photos. I'd just be happy she was able to be there and that I'd be able to have those pictures with her. Let her wear whatever she wants, regardless of how you think it will look in pictures.

    Thank you guys for your opinions. I called grandma back to give her the thumbs up. But before I could say anything she told me that she had decided to skip the ivory lace jacket and go with a burgundy top instead. She's going to keep the ivory slacks. It sounds like we came to a good compromise. I really appreciate all of your input and I'm glad I was able to resolve this with her. Also, I did tell her she's welcome to bring both outfits as she likes. She can always show them to me when she is here.

    And also, I'm so sorry for all of you that do not have your grandmother's there. I understand how difficult it is as I lost my mom 10 years ago and my step mother 5 years ago. I know we would all do anything to have them there for that special day. Thank you for helping me keep it in perspective.

    Let grandma be grandma. This is what my grandma wore to my brothers wedding and I'm sure she will look just like this at my wedding

    @Kels Did you match your lipstick to your groom's suit? That's adorable, I love it lol

    I agree with the majority that grandma gets to do whatever she wants. But, you can always take a look at Grandma's suit and maybe you can help her jazz it up with a colored brooch that matches your color scheme or something like that.

    I can't even believe this was a question in the first place. You probably made your poor grandmother feel so uncomfortable

    It's your grandma. She's earned the right to wear whatever, whenever. I'd let mine wear white if that's what would make her happy

    I think Grandma understands that is why she asked, but I do think she feels she found the perfect attire for you wedding and put a lot of thought into it. Give Grams a pass Smiley smile

    I'd let grandma wear it. Grandmas are the best (usually).

    @carspfern : Your right it is really close! I just picked a shade I thought worked well with my skin tone.

    @mrssloth: glad it worked out!
