girls are getting robes - ideas for Man of Honor gift?

Jenny, on December 3, 2013 at 1:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

Ok, so I really, really want to get robes for my girls to wear in the hotel for getting ready. But I also have a man of honor...do you think it's ok for me to get robes for the girls and give him something else? I guess he could go ahead and put on his suit, for the getting ready pictures? I don't want him to feel left out or out of place in the pics. Any ideas on something else for him to wear? Or should I just skip the robes?

Lol Amy! I wouldn't give him a robe...alcohol, however, would be fine! Smiley winking Maybe that and his tie for the wedding or something...

I'd probably leave him out of the getting ready pics, too Smiley sad Yes, it would be nice to include him, but if he's not *actually* getting ready with the girls, then the pictures with him there will just come off as forced.

I was going to say what Barbara said. It would be kind of awkward to have a man in a picture with a bunch of women in robes. Is he Hugh Heffner?

Barbara, good point...I was wondering if it would look weird. He'll be in the same room (hotel suite) while we're doing hair/makeup but obviously not getting that stuff done. I can do pics of just us girls in the robes for sure.

And nope, he's not Hugh Heffner! I love that image, though!

This is my favorite idea for a groomsman gift. We are giving it to our offcient (FH brother). Give a nice bottle of whiskey (or other alcohol) and cufflinks attached! We found a shirt at Goodwill to cut and sew up for the sleeve. Such cute packaging!

Thanks for the ideas ladies! emily i love that shirt "sleeve" for the whiskey!!

here's just an example of girls in robes with jeans underneath...or tights would be fine...similar to wearing button downs. i'm just really in love with the floral robes that they would hopefully be able to wear in the future. just personally, i don't love wearing or getting shirts with my name or a label on it but that's just me. Smiley smile

button up shirts could def. work too - will look around at those some more! my man of honor is gay and has known all of us for years - so i'm pretty sure they won't mind. but i would ask them before any photos or see if they prefer him to hang out with the groomsmen...he just doesn't know them at all.

Ok I may be the only one here but my first thought was to have in a more masculine robe instead. Obviously he is a very important man in your life if he is your man of honor so he should totally be included in the pics! It wouldn't be fair to leave him out. I think the photographer would know nice poses so that he dosen't look like hugh heffner lol

Kayla I kinda like that idea! And the button up one, too. Lots to decide...Smiley smile I definitely don't want to banish him from the room so I'll think about it some more.

Have you ever seen the how-i-met-your-mother episode with the suit-jamas? You could do something like that maybe. Or get like a Hugh Hefner style robe for him.

Why couldn't you give him a robe? Maybe not a Women's robe.

I also have a Man of Honor (he was too special to let my groom have him!!) and I decided to nix him for the getting ready portion of the wedding, but decided to have my photographer do a "first look" moment with him all ready in his tux and me all ready in my dress. I'm really excited to see how they turn out (I'm hoping my MOH will be completely verklempt!)

I was struggling with this idea also and then I found a mobile service that goes to your location and basically does like a mini spa treatment and I booked him for that. So he isn't technically getting ready like the rest of us but he's still going to be joining in the festivity just in a different way. I would never leave him out of the photos regardless... I can choose whether to share the photos or not but I wanted him to be my man of honor for a reason and he deserves the respect and recognition. The photos will look just fine because it's truly how the day went, isn't that what we want? True memories?

My brother and I are very close and he is my man of honor. I told him I wanted to get all the girls robes with bridesmaid rhinestones in the back and asked him if he’d want one or a button up? He was so excited for a robe lol Rhinestone and all!

I had a few guys in my party too that got ready with us. I loved the idea of getting them men's robes, but couldn't find matching colors. We ended up going with satin robes for the girls and satin loungewear pants for the dudes with a cotton tank. Looked great!
