For those of you who didn't have cups sewn into your dress

Ariella, on October 23, 2015 at 7:00 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28

Where did you find the best bra?

Any place other than the bridal store?

I'm gonna go hunting this weekend and wanted some suggestions Smiley smile

I was going to have the cups sewn in, but the seamstress was straight with me and said they don't do much. With my dress style, I can go braless (plenty of support up top and its not too sheer) so that's what I'm doing.

My seamstress made it seem like cups were just an upcharge, and not necessary in all dress types.

Do you have a photo of your dress?

I brought mine at AA. It was expensive ($89) but totally worth it!

Following, I dont raelly understand how getting pads sewn in would help.

@MrsPope - What is AA? haha

@Kathryn - Me too! I am not sure I would get the support I want. I know I need to get alterations since its still not my exact size and the seamstress can give me a better idea when I go for a fitting, but I want to bring some to be prepared.

Victoria Secret makes nice "cups"... I think they are like silicon or something and you can just slide them in for a little extra coverage if your dress is sheer. They kinda stick to your bod, looking a little more natural. Plus you can use them again.

I didn't have cups sewn in and I didn't wear a bra either. There was enough structure in the top of the dress (and it wasn't shear) that I didn't feel the need for one. Was probably much more comfortable without it anyway.

I got mine a Victoria's Secret. They have a bra with a metal circle that connects the two cups. This means you can angle the bra down for a dress with a low back. It's kind of hard to explain...but it was amazing. I'm a D cup, so I needed a bra.

I bought a longline bra from bare necessities online. I got it for under $40, which was a lot less than I saw other places. I did have to switch the size, but it wasn't that hard. Shipped back the first one and they sent me the new size.

As others have said you may not even need them. I have several forma/semi formal dresses that I wear without a bra. They are so structured at the top that I don't feel like I need anything. I'm fairly small though.

For my wedding dress, I did have cups sewn in, but that was more to fill out the front than to add any support.

Soma is my go to for bras. They aren't cheap, but they're well worth it.

I went to a specialty bra store in my area. Nordstorms is where I get my every day bras. My wedding bra is 32H, I just can't walk into VS.

I went to Nordstrom and a saleslady brought in about 10 different strapless bras. She had me move around in the fitting room until we got one that felt right. I wore it as a bridesmaid recently, and with 32DDs, I have never felt so secure in a strapless bra as I did in the one I found there.

I looked everywhere but honestly, the best bra was at the bridal shop. It was amazeballs.

I am purchasing the suit thingy for the bridal shop (so not actually a bra). There is just nothing like it. It encompasses something that holds you boobs up, keep your stomach tight, and your butt smooth. I knew immediately when I put on the dress with it on my first question was how much is this (meaning the suit thingy)?

I got my bra at JC Penny. It's the most comfortable strapless bra I've ever worn.

I bought this one from Victoria's Secret because my dress had an open back and a pretty deep plunge. My dress was fitted enough that it held the cups in place much better than the sticky stuff on them, so I was really happy with the end result. Plus it was $50 and I had a coupon so it didn't cost nearly as much as what they were selling in the bridal shop.
