For those of you that want to lose weight for the big day!

DebbieB, on January 9, 2009 at 8:21 AM Posted in Planning 0 31

Now, I'm not a fan of diets. I hate them in fact, but my future mother-in-law recommended a diet that she used and lost about 36 pounds in 3 months or so. It's the cabbage soup diet. I've been on it for about 3 days now and have lost about 5.7 pounds. It requires dedication. Each day is something new and you have to stick to it and not cheat. A fellow bride on here also recommended the Apple Cider Vinager diet and my gag reflex just wasn't allowing it so I had to look for an alternative. If any of you are interested just let me know and I can email you the diet. It only requires 7 days and you can lose up to 17 pounds in a week. Pretty nice deal. I'm planning on jump starting my body this week, maintaining and do the diet for 7 days each month until my wedding. I just thought I'd share this amazing diet. Smiley smile

Yes Ive done this one. My mother was a big fan of it in the 80's. You do tend to drop pounds incredibly quickly. But just be warned, it comes back just as quickly! I hate to tell everyone but there simply is no shortcut to actual weightloss. If there was, then this county wouldn't be so overweight and the diet industry wouldn't be making millions every year while we all get fatter. This diet is great to lose the last couple inches right before a beach trip or something, but actual long term weight loss it won't help. However, the soup is a great thing to keep on hand as a snack while losing weight. Good Luck!

I would love to get a copy of that diet. My work schedule does not always permit me to eat the right times or the right things. To shed a few pounds would be awesome. Please email me the details. *********@******************.***

    Thank you

I've never heard of the cabbage soup diet, but I know there's a Vegetable Soup Diet out there that has worked for me in the past. I have also seen now where if you're the kind of bride who likes to dance and want a sexy body without really working out called the Flirty Girl Fitness Program. Their website is FlirtyGirlFit.com. I've actually heard of this one working too since we had a pole dancing Bachelorette Party for my sister which was amazingly fun. This workout incorporates Pole Dancing, besides a lot of flirty dancing which makes the workout fun and you feel like you're not even working out at all.

    Hi,

I used to be pretty obese and started putting on a lot of weight especially on my thighs and bottom in my late thirties. I started exercising as often as possible and also cut down on a lot of high calorie stuff. Unfortunately I hardly managed to lose much weight at all. I then recently read an article by a lady who claimed that she managed to lose nearly half of her weight using a particular weight loss supplement. I tried it out and it actually worked quite well. Within 4 months I managed to lose about 65 pounds. The results were pretty amazing and I feel so much healthier and energetic now. You can read more about the lady's article at

Any diet where you are losing that much weight in one week is not healthy. I can tell you right now that diet will not work in the long run. as Laura said - the weight will come back just as quickly. you need to eat clean and workout to lose weight....there is no easy way to do it. sorry!

So I've now lost a total of 10 pounds. This is not a diet that you stay on to continue to lost weight, it's just a jump start to better eating. In the diet guidelines it clearly states that you can not stay on this diet for more than 7 days because it does cause malnutrition. This is my 7th day and now I know that I don't want to put anything unhealthy in my system now that I've completely cleaned it out. I'll continue to eat the soup every other day just because it's calorie free and helps burn fat. Also, what also helps is working out. I've been working out on the Wii Fit and I know that's been a big help as well. So good luck to all the ladies that have requested the diet. I hope you see great results but remember not to exceed 7 days! Smiley smile

As Debbie suggests the Cabbage Soup Diet, my sister who is a Registered Dietitian has told me that also if anyone who eats Campbells or Progresso Soups (if it's the low-sodium and non creamy soups) and if you can eat them 3 times a day (eaqualling 3 full cans of soup) you can lose weight with those too. A lot of them are more healthy than we all think they can be. If you check out both Campbells and Progresso's soups websites it will tell you which soups are 100 calories or less and those ones work the best too, so do the Healthy Choice ones. I hope this helps anyone who likes soup and doesn't think it will work.

That's not healthy to lose so much weight so fast like RAO said the regular soup diet thing is what's good in my mind. A firend had tried this cabbage diet a couple years ago and didn't like it, she said she always felt "icky" in her stomach...not only that she said she was hungry all the time. I think there's no substitute for a little working out. Me and my FH have a "joint workout routine" where we do various exercise together...cardio, yoga, ect. (athough he does more weights than me) that's what I find works best especially when you make it fun together....now that's motivation...your hot sweaty guy helping you work out =)

To correct the last poster on their comment on my last post. I never said it would take weight off fast, but I will take the word of someone who is a Licensed Dietition and knows what they're talking about as to whether or not it's a healthy way to help you lose weight. Yes exercise and eating right (a lot of balanced meals and a lot of fruits, veggies, chicken, fish) those will help you lose weight. I used to eat fish/shrimp on the grill 5 nights a week and chicken the others and ride my bike 6 miles a day to and from work in the summer, and that helped me lose a ton of weight. For those of you who are on here and it's just extra weight that was put on that you need to lose as opposed to those of us who have had babies and had major abdominal surgeries to remove our babies and have no stomach muscle left, it's harder to take off the weight. Diet pills don't work and that's more unhealthy than eating soup.

I only mentioned the Campbells Soup idea after mentioning to my sister what types of foods I eat and seeing what types of alterations to make to help lose weight (and that was only eating 1 can of soup every now and then). If anyone knows anyone who is a Registered Dietitian they can be your best friend too as to losing weight.

Why would you do this to yourself? Sure, you'll probably drop some weight, but guaranteed you will put it right back on. Most of it is water weight anyway. Not to mention you'll probably feel crabby and lose your natural glow...things that just won't make you as pretty of a bride as you can be. I'm doing it the old-fashioned way – and sure it can be tough at times, but I know I can maintain it. I'm just watching my portions sizes, adding in lots more water, fruits and vegetables, and working out at home (workout videos work great if you don't want to get a gym membership!). I'm definitely looking tighter and toned, and I know I'll be ready to show off my arms in my wedding dress!

Good luck with everything brides...and please be careful with all the silly, quick-fix diets!
