Food Poisoning from our wedding food - UPDATED on page 3

LDwed, on April 28, 2016 at 5:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 68

So I self catered my wedding and 10 people got food poisoning! Just kidding, the wedding was held at and catered by a very reputable 4 star hotel. Has anyone heard of something similar happen? If so, do you know how/if it was resolved.

I'm heart broken. We had an amazing wedding and everything was beautiful and then we find out all these people got sick including our selves. I must add, we didn't get as sick as others. We had guests that ended up in the hospital and missed work. I feel humiliated and so badly for our guests that got sick. The hotel has opened up an investigation and we have spoken to their insurance company. I guess I'm here because I'm curious to see if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone has any experience with a situation like this.

I am sorry to hear you had guests that got sick. I am wondering what you and your guests ate in common that other guests didn't eat. So happy that it did not make ALL of your guests sick!

This is so unfortunate for you; I would feel the same way you do. Definitely worth a follow-up with that caterer....

Oh noooo! That stinks! FH hasn't gotten "full-blown" food poisoning, but he has gotten sick twice at weddings with professional caterers. The first time he literally bit into a chicken skewer and then spit it out and it was raw in the middle Smiley sad

The Biltmore in Asheville, NC is a crazy expensive wedding venue and they made the news for giving an entire wedding food poisoning a few years ago. I guess even with pros it can happen, but I'm still going to get a professional caterer to take my chances wayy down!

Ugh it's a complete nightmare that I didn't even consider could happen.I'm so saddened by it and it's all I can think about when I think about my wedding now. I think the turkey at the carving station might have been under cooked. It seems like to obvious offender.

@Jennifer - I think everyone who had to seek medical attention are insured thankfully. Unfortunately "friend" of DH kept bothering us on our honeymoon about it and it made me really sad. Same person has reported it to the state even though the hotel and their insurance company has reached out to him to work things out. You are more "chill" than others Smiley winking

How awful Smiley sad No words of advice other than to not let this go. Figure it out and get retribution. This put your health and the health of your guests at stake. You deserve more than an "I'm sorry" and an explaination.

I'm so so sorry this happened. The amount of money we will be paying for food is so high, I would be freaking out. Not just for our guests but at how you think you're safe when you get the nice, expensive venue. Geez. Uh. Keep us updated on the outcome Agee the investigation.

This is horrible. The carter should refund you for the mess they created. I'm so sorry that happened!

That's horrible! I hope you can get this resolved. I think the least they can do for you is refund the amount you spent for the catering! Smiley sad
