FAQ Examples from Your Wedding Website?

******, on October 20, 2015 at 11:35 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 2 29

Nicole's comment about not being given any information ahead of time on a duet plated entree made me realize we should probably put the menu somewhere. Our invitations say to alert us of any dietary restrictions, but how else would people know if our menu is a problem for them unless they know what we're serving?

It seems silly to put up an FAQ with just one question, though. If you had an FAQ section, what did you include? Or what do you think you should have included in retrospect?

If nothing else really needs to go there, I guess I can also just make a menu page on the website and list the appetizers, too.

    These were mine:

    PLEASE READ ALTITUDE SICKNESS

For those visiting Aspen/Snowmass for the first time, please be aware that altitude sickness is a real thing!

People have different susceptibilities to altitude sickness; for some otherwise healthy people, acute altitude sickness can begin to appear at around 2000 meters (6,500 ft) above sea level, such as at many mountain ski resorts... symptoms include headache, fatigue, stomach illness, dizziness, and sleep disturbance.

Drink as much water as possible to prepare for the trip, and continue to drink water throughout.

Alcohol will affect you much more quickly.

Carl's Pharmacy in Aspen and Sundance Pharmacy in Snowmass both carry altitude sickness remedies, including cans of oxygen, Advil, electrolytes, etc.

Oxygen bars in Aspen can also alleviate the symptoms.

How do I get to the venue?

There is plenty of parking for those who wish to drive. Shuttles TBA.

    What time should I arrive?

The ceremony will begin at 5 p.m.

    Where should I park?

Parking is available along the road before the ranch, as well as behind the house. Please follow all signs!

Will I have to pay for parking?

    No, parking is complimentary.

    Is there a dress code?

We recommend cocktail casual, but there is no dress code. Please come comfortably, and as yourself!

Note: The ceremony & reception will take place on grass, think about footwear accordingly!

    When is the RSVP deadline?

Please RSVP by June 1, 2015.

What if I have a dietary restriction?

Gluten-free and vegetarian options will be available. If you have any additional concerns, feel free to contact us.

What time will the reception end?

The reception will end at 10:30 p.m.

OMG !!! Your my hero! I was tring to post this question all morning and it wasnt working for some reason. This is what I have so far.

    1. What time should I arrive? Suggestion is 5:45PM for 6PM start.

    2. Are children allowed? This is an adult only ceremony/reception.

    3. Can I bring a guest? Due to venue capacity we can’t host any additional guests that didn’t receive formal invitations.

    4. Ceremony location? The ceremony will be outdoors (weather permitting) at the same venue as the reception.

    5. Can we take pictures? Sure! As long as your share them! :o) Please post pictures on Facebook and IG #AustinLovesKasey. (Please use your best discretion to not interrupt the ceremony.)

    6. What should I wear? The venue is semi-formal. We know you will all show up looking your best and fabulous!

    7. What’s for dinner? We will have appetizers during cocktail hour and guests will have the choice of prime rib, stuffed shrimp or chicken for an entree. OH and of course, CAKE!!!!!!! Please provide choices on RSVP card. If you suffer from food allergies, please contact us so we can speak to venue about alternatives.

    8. Room block? For out of town guests or those who want to stay at the hotel where the after party will take place, we have reserved a room block at the Doubletree Bradley (link to room block in hotel accommodations link on website). Shuttle service will be provided from hotel to venue, please use “contact us” link on this page for more information.

    9. When will the party end? NEVER!!! The reception will start with cocktail hour from 6:30-7:30, reception ends at 11:30. We have a room reserved at the Shade Bar and grill for an “un-hosted” after party.

    10. What’s next?? Invitations will be mailed out in the beginning of March, with an April RSVP date. Please respond by RSVP deadline, we need to get the final #’s to caterer two weeks prior to the event. RSVP’s not returned or late may not be able to get incorporated into the final head count to vendor.

We had a Google map thingy where they could input their location and it would give them instructions to get there. We also included parking info, like everybody else, and the numbers of the only two (sigh) cab companies in Winnipeg. And, like Kathryn, info on our room block and the names of two other hotels in the area.

Kathryn, glad I could accidentally help! Thank you both! I knew I wanted to put dress code somewhere but didn't know how to put it nicely. FH's uncle showed up to FMIL's wedding in sweatpants when she said "California Casual".

ETA Thank you VC! We do have things like that on other tabs Smiley smile

I did not put an FAQ page. On the RSVP, I had general meal options (chicken, beef, crab) and an insert card that said to go to the website for more info, where I listed the detailed menu for dinner options. I also put a little blurb about parking for people to mention to the attendant that they were with our wedding since we hosted the parking.

Not that anyone read it, but here is ours:

Why is there only one location listed?

The ceremony will be held in the same location and room as the reception.  After the ceremony, the staff will move the chairs from the center of the room to the tables for the reception.  Please do not move the chairs yourself.  The staff will take care of moving all of the chairs to their tables and this should take no longer than 5 minutes.  During this time, you can pick up your escort cards and activity bags for the children.  Please also enjoy the bar, appetizers, and our photo booth while we are taking formal family pictures.

How formal is the wedding/What should I wear?

Formal wedding attire is requested.  (Ex:  Men- Suit or dress slacks. Women- Dress or a blouse and skirt/dress slacks)

I have dietary restrictions, what should I do?

Please notify us as soon as possible about any needs you have so we can do our best to accommodate you.

    Do I have to RSVP?

Yes! We would prefer you RSVP through the mail with the RSVP card and self addressed, stamped envelope included with your invitation.  Please make sure this is done by the date requested!

The invitation said "The _____ Family"... are children invited?

Yes, the entire family is invited to share in our celebration.  Please let us know if you will be needing a high chair, as there are very few available.

    Can I take pictures?

We understand and appreciate that you would like to take pictures to remember our special day. However, while you are taking pictures, please be courteous of our photographers. Please refrain from stepping in front of a photographer or using too much flash, as these can disrupt the professional photographs.

I'm from out of town and have time before/after the wedding. Where can we eat Saturday and Sunday?

There is a Bob Evans, Cracker Barrel, and Texas Roadhouse near the blocked hotel. A small deli nearby is Manhattan Deli Bar and Grille located on the northwest corner of Route 91 and Ridge Road.  If you're looking for a sports bar, check out Brindaliers at the intersection of Route 91 and Route 6.  If you are looking for chain restaurants, take Route 91 North and go East on Euclid Avenue to find places like IHOP, Subway, Chipotle, and Red Robin. If you are in the mood for Chinese, take Route 91 North and go West on Euclid Avenue to find New Wong's Chinese 2 miles down the road.

Okay, Okay. Now to the important question: Will there be an open bar?!

Of course! A full bar will be available after the ceremony through the end of the night. The wine selections will be extra special for our wedding. Along with help from the Matron of Honor, Bridesmaids and friends, we will be making and bottling the Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc for the reception. But don't worry: professionals will be doing most of the work!

I stumbled upon an FAQ on a wedding site and thought it was an amazing idea. All these suggestions are great. Pancakes is right, not everyone will read it, but you can mention it to people by word of mouth, or make a note on the website introduction to 'check out our FAQ section at the end of the page.' That way, if your guests don't read your entire website, they've read far enough to see mention of the FAQ section.

@Kathryn - yours doesn't sound rude at all! It's straight and to the point.

ETA: I would also include a section about what to do if your RSVP answer changes either way.

    Love these examples. Thanks everyone!

@Elyse, the reason we did not include it in the RSVP is because everyone gets the same entree, there are no choices unless you have an allergy, are a vegetarian, etc. We also ordered invitations before we made a decision on the menu.

I had to lol at Pancakes' comment about no everyone reading it. I had a guest miss our entire ceremony because they left to get cash for parking. I told her 1. Everywhere you go in philly accepts cards for parking and 2. It was on the website that it was covered. She was just like "Oh, I didn't go on that."

FutureMrsDrF, Yea, our parking wasn't figured out at the time of invites either, so I understand.

Haha other Nicole, actually, since she commented about not liking the duet option she was given. But I did see that you mention starting something on an FAQ thread, must have missed it! Damn monitoring at work. I'm being followed 20 hours a week but they can't track my computer usage when the consultant isn't here!

We created an FAQ that reflects our humor and personalities, as well as the tone (casual/laidback) of the event:

Why are you getting married in the Hudson Valley and Shawangunk / Catskills region?

We love this area of the country. The mountains and natural beauty of the area are breathtaking, and there are so many cool things happening in the different cities and towns up here. We felt like this region reflects our laid back personalities and highlights many of the things that we love.

    What's up with Kingston, NY?

Kingston is awesome! We decided to do our hotel blocks here because it is a convenient ride to the farm and it's a great city with lots of things to do outside of the wedding ceremony and reception. There are some great restaurants, coffee shops, bars, record stores and more within walking distance of the hotels in Kingston.

    What's up with Kingston, Jamaica?

    We don't know...you tell us.

Should we come up the night before the wedding?

Yes! If you can, come up early and stay late so that you can spend some time checking out this amazing area. We put some recommendations on the "Things To Do" page, but there is so much more to see and do here. Also, we will definitely be hitting the bars in Kingston on Friday night, so come up early if you want to join us.

Hotels are for squares. Can I camp?

Yes! It's $25 a person to camp and you have to bring your own tent and camping gear. Let us know if you want to camp in advance so we can have you coordinate with Wally, the property owner.

How hot is it going to be?

It's July on the east coast, so it will most likely be hot. The average July temperature in the area is 77 degrees. We are having the ceremony and reception in the evening so that it will be cooler, but it may still be very warm. Please dress accordingly. The farm is in the mountains, and it may get chilly at night, so make sure you have a jacket or sweatshirt with you as well.

Will it be 98 degrees there?

We hope not! We'll have cold water (and beer!) on hand to cool everyone down.

    Will 98 degrees be there?

We invited them, but they haven't RSVP'd yet.

I don't want to wear a suit. Is that okay?

Totally cool. We want everyone to be comfortable, so wear whatever works for you. Remember we'll be on an outdoor farm during the summer.

I changed my mind. I want to wear a suit. Is that okay?

Absolutely. Get as dressed up as you want. If you want to bring a change of clothes for late night campfire chilling you can do that too.

What will I do at your wedding?

Well, some of the usual stuff. There will be a ceremony and some great food from Hickory BBQ in Kingston. We will have music and dancing and drinking. There will also be some less usual stuff like lawn games and a campfire!

What if I don't know anyone else there?

We'll introduce you! Our friends and families are awesome, and we can't wait for everyone to hang out together!

    But I'm shy...

It's all right. We'll have plenty of alcohol to loosen you up and get you on the dance floor!

Who's that weird dude that keeps trying to hug me?

That's Pete. He's harmless. Just hug him back. Go on.

Why are you guys so amazing?

Why don't you come to our wedding and find out.

    Ok.
