Fall Candy Buffet HELP!!!!!

aysa, on August 8, 2011 at 9:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Ok ladies im having a candy buffet for my wedding and I'm trying to somewhat be money conscious. So i really dont want the one color M&M's so expensive(70$ for five pounds) My wedding colors are burnt orange, chocolate and gold accents. I was thinking reeces pieces and rolos just to give you some examples. I have 6 big dishes that I bought from Hobby Lobby and then I have 2 smaller dish gardens. I'm expecting 140 guest. Thank you soooooo much I welcome your suggestions.

    # of Guests x 3(oz) then divide the answer by 16(oz) = Total lbs you should buy.

Some say 1/4 LB per guest, others say 1/2 LB per guest. But it's all about the way your candy looks. Plan by how you want the display to look, not how many guests are coming.

Take your candy buffet bags/containers that the guests will be taking home with them to your local grocery store and fill them the types of candy you will have for your event. Then weigh them. Multiply by how many guests, then you will get an idea of the pounds.

If you want m&ms but don't want to pay to custom order them, you could look for the fall m&m's when they come out. That's what we're planning to do, no more expensive than your every day m&ms but they come in gold, brown, red, and maroon.

My colors are brown and gold, and initially i was going to stick with my colors but ive decided to go with candy i loved and i went to Bjs and Sams and loaded up on candy, i did 2 pounds each candy with 200 guests, and i choose 14 different candies, and throughout the year i went to thrift shops and brough various different jars for it.

Our colors are burnt orange (!) and dark purple with chocolate brown accents. We're going to put out a few smaller dishes with our colored M&Ms and also have candy pumpkins, brownie bites, rolo candies, carmel corn...

We're still compiling a list, but that's what we've got so far!

Aysa- stores always have the m&ms weeks before the season. I work for CVS, I havent seen them yet but I have already got a lot of fall stuff in so I am sure they are coming in soon! don't be afraid to ask the manager in a store if i new someone was going to buy a case of m&ms i'd go digging in my backroom lol.. retailers are struggling like the rest of us so most will go out of there way to make a sale

    candywarehouse.com was great too

Aysa, I was at the discount candy store today shopping for my own buffet and I thought of you I found gummies that look like candy corn! I had never seen them before they looked really cool- just a thought if you could find them

Also those apple lollipops with the caramel on them are a great idea or maybe just add some real caramel apples?

Quick tip - make sure you have enough candy for every guest to get one serving of every candy. Some people will take more of one and less of another and it usually balances out if at the outset there is enough for everyone. Happy planning!!!
