Eyeglasses during the wedding?

Angie, on January 29, 2013 at 10:11 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31

I have terrible eyesight. I wear glasses. I have occasionally worn contacts, but it seems like my eyes water more with them than they do with my allergies!

What is everyone else's plans when it comes to eyewear during the wedding?

I wear both, but I plan to either wear contacts or have Lasik done. I've been wanting it for awhile now and the wedding gave me my kick to do it. I say wear what you are comfortable in, wouldn't mind seeing in pictures, and what makes you feel like you.

I wear contacts and glasses, and I wore contacts during the wedding. My H only wears glasses so that's what he did on the wedding day. However, that's not the best solution. Although he has all those anti-reflective and whatever-they-call-them coating on his lenses, there was still glare in many pics.

What kinds of contacts did you try? I can only wear RPGs comfortably.

I'm wearing my glasses, because I wear contacts like twice a year when we go skiing or snowshoeing. I'd feel naked in all of my pictures without them. I'm hoping there isn't a problem with glare, but like Mrs. S said, the anti-reflective coating only does so much. FH is wearing his glasses too, so we can be nerdy together Smiley smile

I will be wearing contacts. I tried the acuvue oasis brand claiming that they were the most comfortable and most hydrating ones but to be honest they sucked! My eyes feel so dry when wearing them...I will be going back to the optometrist today to find another solution, I plan on trying out a few different varieties before the wedding. I don't want to be seated for dinner and have to run out to the bathroom to take my contacts out because my eyes are burning. I find that even with the anti-glare on my glasses I still have a super reflection in professional pictures so I'm choosing contacts. I just have to find the right ones.

Emily, my H is the same way, except that he never wears contacts. It was fine for the most part, it's just some pics. Unfortunately, a couple that would otherwise really love, but it's not a disaster.

Definitely contacts. What sucks is, my prescription is up and my doctor wont give me new ones until I get an eye exam... But my vision insurance is terrible and I'm going to have to pay a lot out of pocket (out of my wedding budget) just to get contacts for that day. Oh well. I will definitely NOT be wearing my glasses - if I had to, I would rather wear nothing than wear my glasses.

I can see good enough to not wear my glasses if I memorize my vows; I wont be able to read them without my glasses. I hate contacts so I wont be wearing those.

I had not thought about the glare on my glass, glad you ask this question. I better get to memorizing.

I'm wearing my glasses. I don't feel like I look like myself without them.

I would wear my glasses, except for that they have transition lenses, and since the wedding is an all day, outdoor affair, I don't want dark lenses in all the pics. Going to have to spend the $$, though, to go get contacts. My prescription is up, too, so I can't even just go get a different pair of glasses :/

I'm wearing contacts! Ask your optometrist to recommend some contacts that are non irritating or good for sensitive eyes. I'm sure he or she would have some good suggestions.

Tyra you look so pretty and that picture is just adorable!

My FH wears glasses and is can barely see without them so...he probably would wear glasses the whole time. I would never want him to feel uncomfortable or get a head ache from going without! I may ask him about some of the formal pictures just because of the glare, for the the ceremony itself and all of the reception he will have his glasses.

He never wears contacts. I'm not really sure why he just doesn't like putting something in his eye.

Lasik rocks! My daughters FH wore glasses since he was very young. He got Lasik and walked out with no glasses and has perfect vision now. I wish mine was not just old age eyes. Smiley sad

I will wear my glasses. No one has seen me without them since I was twelve. I have no photos without them. It wouldn't look like me without them.

FH will glasses as he can't see without them and doesn't look the same without them either. I very rarely wear my glasses so I will go without them.

I will be wearing my contacts. My fiance is trying to convince me to wear my glasses. But I have no intention of wearing my glasses on my wedding day.
