Eyeglasses during the wedding?

Angie, on January 29, 2013 at 10:11 AM

I have terrible eyesight. I wear glasses. I have occasionally worn contacts, but it seems like my eyes water more with them than they do with my allergies! What is everyone else's plans when it comes to eyewear during the wedding?

My GF is wearing her glasses - I actually think she's prettier in her glasses than without? I mean she is pretty regardless, but there is just something about her in her frames that I love.

She was thinking she would have to wear contacts but Im okay either way!

Not 100% but as of right now I'm wearing my glasses. I feel weird without them but I'm not sure yet I might take them off for pictures

Definitely work on those contacts. Glasses can be nice, if they are photographed well, have an anti-reflective coating, and have expensive lenses if your prescription is more than a diopter or two. Glasses with cheaper lenses magnify or minify your eyes (and do other strange things), depending on your prescription. You also do makeup differently when someone is wear specs. So if you go with glasses, spend the money to get a NICE pair at a good doctor's office. As for your contact lens troubles, there is definitely a comfortable lens out there for you! Talk to your optometrist about your concerns. To start, s/he can prescribe a daily eye drop for allergies, which should resolve your discomfort when wearing the lenses. If you explain the circumstances (that you REALLY need to wear them for this VERY special day), your doctor might even prescribe you a never-fail steroid eye drop that will definitely make your eyes happy for a day, but should not be used more frequently than that.

If you take them off for pictures, be careful about getting unsightly marks from the nosepieces!

I definitely plan to wear contacts. Only issue is I've never tried to put contacts in with acrylic nails... Should be an interesting time trying to do that LOL

I think Fluffy made some good points but as someone who didn't even consider contacts for their wedding day and has always worn glasses I'd like to present the other side of the things her posted mentioned.

If you have a good photographer photographing shouldn't be a concern. My glasses had just standard cheapo lenses and we got married in sunny Florida outside in the afternoon. My photographer had absolutely no problem with combating glare on my glasses. If you wear your glasses all the time you'll be use to how your eyes look behind the lens so that shouldn't be a problem either. If you decided to have a makeup artist and decided to wear your glasses let them know. It does effect how the artist will do your eyes to an extent. And since you wear glasses normally you would be aware of how to do your makeup with the glasses.

At the end of the day do what is right for you. You will look beautiful either way!
