Extra! No one watches them. I think we saw my sister's once, just to make sure everything was captured. It's a lot of money for something that is pretty much forgotten about.
I honestly hate wedding videos. Everything looks so fake and cheesy to me. It's a whole bunch of the bride and groom standing there while the videographer takes a slo-mo video moving around them.
I'd rather capture more "authentic" moments from the wedding instead of just having moving photography, so I'm enlisting my bridal party to take as much cell phone video as possible. And I have a friend in the audience tasked with videoing my entrance into the ceremony on her phone. This way it's free, more natural and easier.
I think this is essential, my FH thinks it's an extra, lol. We initially didn't budget for a videographer in the beginning stages of our planning because we wanted to make sure our priorities were covered and budgeted for, so we compromised to leave it out. Once we hit our savings goal for the wedding, we decided to sign for one because we had the money to.
Extra. The only thing we wanted a video of us the ceremony, mostly our vows. We are going to set up a tripod in the back and just have our camera videotape that part.
For me, videography was just as important as photography. We hired our videographer before our photographer. There was someone who I was already interested in & followed & I immediately fell in love, crying at all the videos so I knew I had to have it!
Extra. The only time you ever see people re-watching their wedding video is after a divorce or death of a spouse. While it may be a heartfelt keepsake in case something tragic happens, it's not something most people stick in the DVD player when you have a movie-night with friends! (Although I will admit it could be a way for family/friends to see your marriage if they couldn't attend.)
I think extra, but I LOVE that I’ll be able to look back on our anniversary and watch our big day all over again. You don’t get to see all the things that happen that night, so a videographer helps capture those moments you may have missed otherwise. Plus, it’s fun to go back and see everything from a 3rd party perspective.
Essential! I definitely thought it was optional at first but my fiancé surprised me with a videographer for our engagement party! I absolutely adore the video and now we are going to use the same company for our wedding.
Essential. I want to be able to watch back and see all the moments, hear our vows, and just relive the day in real time rather than just through our memories. My cinematographer is really talented and we will also be getting an artistic short clip compilation set to music which I'm so excited about!
