Essential or Extra - Engagement Pictures

To me, essential. You are capturing a small moment in time.

I loved that we got comfortable in front of the camera, how to pose, knew how our photographer worked, had a lot of fun. I love our pictures and I am so glad we did it.

My husband thought it was really silly until it was all over and saw the pictures. He loves that some day our kids or grandkids will see them and know how much we love each other.

Essential. My FH and I already did them!

Extra... but only because our engagement story is non-traditional. We were engaged 11 years before actually getting married!

Technically they're extra, but they are pretty essential to me lol. My fh is getting more excited now that they're coming up. We were just going to have his cousin take a couple photos for our STDs, but they were included in our photography package so that was nice!

We considered them extra and weren't going to have any but they ended up being included in all of the packages our photographer offered. We had them done and I'm really glad we did! They came out wonderfully and I know years from now I'll be really happy to have these photos.

Extra. I’m not doing them, as cool as they will be, I’d rather spend the money on the wedding or honeymoon

The actual pictures were an "extra" for us that we could have skipped. But I think that getting the posing practice and some time with your photographer before the wedding day is essential!

Extra. However a fun idea for us. My FH and I are Disney Annual pass holders, so we get pictures for free. We are definitely doing engagement pictures in either Magic Kingdom or Epcot!!

Extra for us, it's tough to block off a day for this! Plus we already sent our STDs with a pretty flower on the front...I joked that I didn't want to force our families and friends to look at our big dumb faces on their fridges for 6 months

Essential! You only get to be engaged to him once

Essential, we barely take so much as a selfie together so the chance to get actual photos taken of us was a must!

Extra. We didn't do them

Both. we know they aren't essential; however, since we can afford to do them, we are. we're going to use them for save the dates and our wedding website.

Extra. We would have loved to have had them done, but life and planning kind of took over and we never got to it. Now our wedding is about a month away and it no longer seems to be a priority for us.

Extra. We did photos so we could make save the dates, but we could have easily used other photos. We also used it as a way to test our photographer.

Essential, we're using one of the pictures for our save the date and then I also need to get comfortable in front of the camera.

Technically extra...but we wanted pictures with our dog since he's a little too rambunctious for wedding photos, so we're still taking engagement pics!

Ditto! That and we are getting married in another state, so we didn't have the time, money, or resources to find a separate photographer here vs the state we will get married in. I think they're cute but we are in our 40s and have tons of photos together, so we skipped them.
