My fiancé proposed to me on Christmas Eve surrounded by my family so they were there to celebrate with me. For this reason, i didn’t really feel the need for an engagement party. I am very excited to get married and will do a bachelorette party but I’m opting out of everything else. So no engagement party or bridal shower for me. Seems like too much work.

It's nice to have but fun. We had one and it was loads of family fun.

Nice to have but not needed. We kept ours simple. Had Pizzas and used our church reception hall.

Definitely nice to have, but not needed for sure..I really enjoyed my engagement party. I wasn't planning on having one until it was started for me! I definitely loved it though. A lot of our family actually got to meet at the party, so that was nice Smiley heart

Nice to have -- I wanted one but we compromised and had a cookout with our local wedding party members instead. It wasn't a big to-do, but everyone had a nice time!

Nice to have. We didn't have one, but I don't think they're very popular here.

I honestly don’t think we need to have an engagement party. I feel like everyone already found out through the grapevine and they will or won’t be invited to celebrate our big day. I feel like it’s just a little too much planning that doesn’t need to happen, we have bigger things on our plate ☺️

So you will find that most of my answers for this week's Need or Nice to Have questions will be "nice to have".

Engagement party - It's fun and a great way to kickoff your wedding planning but for me it's just money up front that I will wish I hadn't spent when it comes to time to make those final payments.

For me it was a need to have. It was a way to make an announcement to our closest family & friends. Plus we just bought a house so we intertwined it with a house warming. I suppose ultimately it’s a “nice to have” for most. But I was hell bent on having one lol

Nice to have, didn't have but would've been nice if I did. I wasn't so worried about it honestly

I thought it would be nice to have so that my extended family and my fiance's extended family could get to know each other. But we got engaged in the beginning of November so I'm thinking it may be to late!

Its nice to have but not a need to have ...all parties are a nice to have but not need to have ...if you have the time and money for them great but not everyone can afford a party for every thing that some think should have a party for i think just letting everyone know is the big part not throwing a party for it lol

Nice to have but not at all required. We opted to not have one ourselves as our wedding is only 5 months after we got engaged.

Definitely nice to have. FH and I never even thought of one but my mom really wanted us to have one so she paid for us to do one.
