drinking on your wedding day?

This may be a touchy subject for some... But are you going to drink on your wedding day? I DO NOT want to be anywhere close to drunk on my special day, I want to remember it. I don't see a problem with having some champagne or one drink during the reception but anything beyond that, no. I guess it...

I'm pretty firm on this but I guess to each their own right?

I will be getting my drinking in most likely at the after party at the hotel, once i am out of my dress, and can finally relax and breath, now I will be drinking at the reception but nothing close to being tipsy. I plan on having a couple of mix drinks and a toast.

I definitely plan on having mimosas for me and my girls while we're getting ready. And then wine at dinner. Definitely don't plan on getting drunk! But I do enjoy my wine Smiley smile FH will probably have a beer or two beforehand and wine at dinner as well.

I definitely did drink, and had people left and right trying to give me a drink, but I did limit myself and did not stand for any peer pressure, I said "no, I want to remember this day" So people would back off, I would have like a drink every hr or so, but drank lots of water and danced sooo much. I was more hyper and excited than anything, that I had my own happy buzz and it was great feeling buzz, but not drunk.

I don't usually drink, but I don't plan on drinking grape juice for my toast, lol! I will toast with champagne and we are considering doing signature drinks, so I will have one of those, that's plenty for me, I plan to enjoy my day!

I'm thinking about doing mimosas while getting ready and we'll have wine and beer at the wedding (and possibly signature drinks) so I'll probably have a couple drinks. I do not plan on drinking enough to be drunk. Someone mentioned sangria....I will have to ask my caterer about that option. It sounds perfect for a summer wedding!

I'm a lightweight, plus being nervous somehow seems to double the amount of alcohol in my system. I will probably only drink a glass of champagne, maybe a glass of wine.

I actually don't understand why people apply different principles to their wedding day than any other day :-) Like with money or alcohol.

I am a social drinker. I love my cocktail before dinner and my glass of wine (or two) with dinner. So I did the exact same thing at the wedding.

I will be enjoying the open bar we will be paying for. We also are paying for a shuttle for everyone back to the hotel so I plan to utilize that too. My family friends and his family are big drinkers. We won't be wasted and blacking out but we will be probably buzzed.

I can honestly say I didn't even have time to enjoy a drink. I was so busy once the reception started. I was chugging waters more than anything! I think I maybe had 4 or 5 sips of beer or champagne. Unless you plan on hanging out in front of your bar and ignoring all your guests, you'll be just a busy.

As some of the brides stated you will be so buisy to actually have a chance to get plastered..lol..on my wedding day my girls and I sipped mimosas while getting ready and during the reception not only did I Not have alot of drinks but I did Not have a chance to eat all my foof. I was so buisy with all that was going on, talking to everyone, enjoying my new husband, enjoying the whole atmosphere that I was not even thinking about eating or drinking but like other brides have aslo mentioned it is fine to enjoy yourself with drinks just a s long as you keep it classy!!!!!

I'll have a few because I feel like it's my day to have a good time, but by no means do i plan on getting trashed. I agree I want to remember my day, but I also want to enjoy my reception. My goal is to mingle during my cocktail hour, so i can eat and enjoy my reception. I dont want to have to do all that mingle/hi stuff during the "party". So we're also doing our photos before the ceremony. (Got a little of topic there) but to answer the question yes i want to have a few drinks

I had a total of maybe 1 drink...Im not a champagne drinker so I only had 2 sips of that during our toasts. and every time I had a drink I had to put it down and doing something so I never got a full drink, DH was the same way only had a few. But we made a promise to one another that we wouldn't get trashed we wanted to remember the night

I don't normally drink anyway but I was hoping to enjoy one or two cocktails at my reception until I was diagnosed with a digestive disease 3 days before my wedding. Consuming alcohol is now off limits. But since I wasn't really a drinker before hand it doesn't bother me but it was a little bummed that I couldn't have a drink or 2 at the reception. Oh well! It was still a blast!

I don't normally drink and FI hates it. I'll have a half a drink once a month or more likely once every other month. He'll probably want me to drink on our wedding day, but I'll probably be too excited/nervous/anxious! I might have one drink, but that'll probably be it because that's all I normally drink.

Honestly everyone knows their limits....I mean I am going to drink and enjoy myself! I know that what I can handle and what I cant as well as my FH...so I don't care what anyone else does because we will have security their for those who want to get out of hand...NO ONE will ruin my day

@ Mrs. S I'm more of a social drinker too. I'll probably try to have some champagne or a cocktail but we're not having an open bar. Plus our wedding is earlier in the day on a Saturday.

Nothing is tackier than a DRUNK bride. If you do have spirits, pace yourself and remember to eat!! It's a busy day and you WILL regret if you black out that day/night. You don't get a do-over Smiley smile
