What did you DIY? (or attempt to)

NoMore, on October 2, 2015 at 12:19 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 26

This weekend, I am going to attempt to DIY the bird cage for our cards. It's currently white but I want to spray paint it gold and add some ribbon and lace to it. We'll see how that turns out. What have you or will you be DIYing? Pictures are always welcomed! Smiley smile

Oh lawdy.. Let's see.. Our cake servers, thank you banner, date banner, cardbox and winebox, ring bearer pillows, sparkler tags, wedding invitations.... Ummmmm.... What else..... OH! Cake stands, but I still need to get those done. I'm sure there's a few other things, but I can't think of them right now.

I made the flowers the day before the wedding.

DH made the cardbox (has our names and date engraved in it) & wooden slabs for the cake and guest book. He made two slabs because he wasn't sure which type of wood I wanted, so we ended up using the second one for the guest book.

Also the seating chart and program was DIY.

Post pics when you have your bird cage finished!

We've done so much. I had a thread yesterday of some of our projects. I think this weekend we are going to attempt to finish our cake tables and bar. Problem is it is supposed to rain and we need to be outdoors to build these. We will see how it all plays out.

I did our card box, table numbers, and escort cards. I also did some crappy last minute signage that I don't have pics of. Hopefully they all look better in the pro pics.

I did ring bearer pillows, rosemary infused olive oil favors, escort cards, our head table backdrop, a lot of banners and signs, a few decorations here and there. The DIYs were kinda random. You learn quickly in wedding planning you will either spend money or time, and I don't have a ton of time, so as much as I love crafts, I usually picked money.

Oh gosh, pretty much everything. I did the flowers Guestbook (pallet board), program board, bridesmaid totes, the centerpieces, the flowers, a thank you banner, cards sign. I could probably go on.

I made way too many things but what I am proudest of is my flowers. I did all origami flowers and each person had something they like in the flowers. I had some Superman Comics for FH and some of Da Vinci's artwork in my bouquet. Some had sheet music and other artworks. I had one blue flower for my something blue as well.

I did this sign.... the letters were supposed to go on the back of our chairs, no idea how/why they ended up out there, but I really didn't give a flying f at that point!

Oh hell no I don't! I printed out in the font I wanted, rubbed chalk on the back of the paper, and then used a pencil to trace/press the outline onto the chalk, and then fill it in with marker.

Working on my paper rose bouquet.

If I have to buy a glue gun, I quit.

I thought about making a chalkboard sign, but I seriously don't have the patience to trace letters.

How do you all do the writing? I have horrible handwriting so alot of these are not an option for me.
