show me your silk flowers / alternative bouquets

Mary, on March 5, 2012 at 4:13 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 49

Hi guys,

I am stuck between shelling out for real flowers or trying alternative / silk flowers. I love the prettines of flowers, but they are pricey, and I cannot forget how sensitive I am with my hayfever, I wonder what I would be like in a room full of flowers. In the beginning I was sure i wanted real flowers against all odds, now looking at the designs on etsy, I am leaning towards more silk flowers. Show be your bouquets, what will you / did you do!

The girls bouquets and FH's bout. I plan to take my bouquet apart (middle green flowers) and create a brooch/flower bouquet with those same flowers.

To the girls that did the brooch bouquets...where did you get the brooches and how far ahead of time did you start looking for them. I'm thinking about doing something similar.

I got brooches from ebay and just by telling people I wanted to do a brooch bouquet, they started giving me some.

My MOH will add a little note to my shower invite that will say something about "if you would like to donate a brooch to Caroline's bouquet please bring one to the shower. She is collecting silver brooches with rhinestone and pearls and has been collecting from ebay, goodwill, yard sales and so on" just so they know I don't expect some crazy expensive brooch.

My bouquet, and BM bouquets. We only had 3 months to plan, a supre limited budget, so silk was the only way to go for us! My mother made these...

Mine aren't together yet... that's my next DIY, I have all the pieces though (except the glitter for mine). The red ones are partially metallic which matches the GM suits. The flowers will be surrounded by the black ostrich feather.

@Rachelle - mine is a combination of brooches, buttons and rings. The brooches I bought from ebay and didn't pay more than $3.00 for any of them. The buttons were also about $1 - $2 and the rings were mostly $1 each. I got some rings for about $2 or $3. But after looking at the finished product I want to add more so I am still gathering a few more.
