I know the location of your wedding makes a difference when it comes to the costs of catering; however, I was curious what your costs are and what that includes. It might also be nice for future users to see this thread down the line so they can get an idea of what to expect price-wise, as catering should really be at least 50% of your budget.

So to make it simple...

1. How much are you paying per person?

2. What h'orderves does it include? (If any: passed / stationed)

3. What dinner does it include? (buffet or plated / # courses / # of different choices)

4. Does it include alcohol?

5. What type of cuisine is it?

6. (optional) What is your location?

- I'll start us off! -

1. $60

2. 6 passed apps

3. Buffet / 6 meal options

4. No

5. American

6. Connecticut

You are missing location or the 'vibe'. I don't want to call it elegance because everyone will have a lovely wedding. This is very similar to the pricing I'm paying in DC, it just is what it is!

I think it has to do with what is included. A lot of people posting have hired caterers separate and may have venue charges on top of that. Some include alcohol and others do not. Some included tax and others did not.

I feel like ours is a deal since my work is catering. Not a final estimate. We're using our Max headcount right now.

    1. How much are you paying per person? $13/person

    2. What h'orderves does it include? (If any: passed / stationed)

    2-3 undecided h'orderves, stationed

    3. What dinner does it include? (buffet or plated / # courses / # of different choices)

2-3 meat BBQ plate with sides, bread, condiments

    4. Does it include alcohol?

No, our bartender is included with our venue and we are purchasing our own alcohol. No price yet for that but we're budgeting $**** (as much as our food lol) for alcohol and mixers. Tea, water, and coffee is included with our venue.

    5. What type of cuisine is it?

    BBQ

    6. (optional) What is your location?

    Austin, TX

I'm curious who your caterer is? I've searched NWI to find less expensive caterers for my Chicago wedding and it seems like there aren't many caterers around there.

This is so very helpful. I am just starting the planning process and had no idea how much catering would cost.

I noticed that as well. I was really shocked at the numbers I saw, but then I realize we accounted for a few things in one package. Our costs include the liquor package, the venue, linens, staff, etc.

    1. How much are you paying per person? About $120 including taxes and service fees

    2. What h'orderves does it include? 2-3 passed.

    3. What dinner does it include? Buffet with two meat options (1 is a carving station), salad, 2 sides, 1 veggie

    4. Does it include alcohol? Yes. Open bar

    5. What type of cuisine is it? American? Not quite sure. Lol

    6. (optional) What is your location? Georgia

Not jumping to conclusions when there have been countless examples of people who have died from improperly stored and served food at church potlucks.

If your guests get sick, that falls on you, and you are liable for their medical bills.

My catering is included in the venue, it’s a banquet hall that serves the food so I don’t think they travel and do catering at other locations. I was originally trying to do my wedding in Chicago but the catering costs are through the roof there! I’m sorry girl :/
