I know the location of your wedding makes a difference when it comes to the costs of catering; however, I was curious what your costs are and what that includes. It might also be nice for future users to see this thread down the line so they can get an idea of what to expect price-wise, as catering should really be at least 50% of your budget.

So to make it simple...

1. How much are you paying per person?

2. What h'orderves does it include? (If any: passed / stationed)

3. What dinner does it include? (buffet or plated / # courses / # of different choices)

4. Does it include alcohol?

5. What type of cuisine is it?

6. (optional) What is your location?

- I'll start us off! -

1. $60

2. 6 passed apps

3. Buffet / 6 meal options

4. No

5. American

6. Connecticut

There is an issue with it when someone gets sick or if that means that instead of relaxing and enjoying the day important family members are working overtime to make sure the food is hot and ready for the guests.

The reception is thrown to THANK your guests for coming to your WEDDING (The wedding is actually the ceremony where the marriage takes place - the reception is just an optional party. You only need to first part to be married not the second. People seem to forget this). There is no way to thank someone less than by asking them to work the party being thrown for them.

$35 pp for a shrimp boil with cole slaw and key lime pie as well as a grilled chicken option to accommodate allergies.
They provide tables, chairs, linens, plates and utensils. I'm getting different linens and plates, and am going back and forth on chairs.

Its the in-house caterer at our venue but Mazzone is the company. They have several restaurants/venues in the area but also cater outside their venues. Their food is amazing and I 100% recommend them.

Why does everyone have to make such a big deal over someone wanting to have a self catered wedding. There are so many different circumstances. Some social circles of friends and family love old fashion pot luck fire hall weddings. I wouldn't suggest it for a huge wedding but for small affairs why is it so bad? I have to laugh every time someone immediately assumes everyone will get food poisoning. Has no one really ever eaten something from a pot luck event. Maybe I just don't get to worked up about those things. Then again I have eaten a rat that a boy had on a stick on the side of the road once lol Anyways that is just my opinion. Oh well.

What's wrong with it? Botulism. People have DIED from potlucks. Just google potluck deaths. Plethora of articles will come up.

You've eaten a rat on the side of the road and your catering is $192PP, not buying it.

Hahaha what does the wedding cost have to do with me not being a picky eater or worked up by where I eat food? I think you missed the point. I do not get worked up by pot lucks but then again I don't really worry about those things which is why I gave the example. So I was kind of poking fun at myself and how I am probably not qualified for what is ok and not ok to eat due to my lack of judgement with food. lol!

Huh? What does my adventure of food eating have to do with my wedding cost? I was kind of poking fun of my own judgement by pointing out a risky food experience.
