DIY jobs of the day - place cards and seating chart

FutureMrsB (Aussie Bride!), on January 3, 2013 at 8:08 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 4

So I know I don't need these for ages but of course I was procrastinating from something much more important at work... but anyway

Thank you to Hayley C., Stacy P. & Kristen S. for inspiration for the seating chart https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/how-to-tell-people-where-their-assigned-seat-is/980cae5f8f0e9c4c.html

And I got the idea for the place cards from here: http://www.marrythis.com/free-printables/freebie-friday-place-card/

I made the placecards in word, working off a microsoft template to get the sizing right.

I made the seating chart in publisher.

What do you ladies think? Obviously the chart will change with RSVPs etc but its a starting point.

I like that you're doing both escort cards and a seating chart.

I did a seating chart for my first wedding and no escort cards. It was cute, but not practical in execution. People were looking for escort cards, couldn't remember what table they were at once they walked away from the chart. blah blah blah. it was more hassle than it was worth (and I paid quite a bit for one on etsy).

We're doing a big u-shaped table so I had no idea how to do assigned seating where there will be no table numbers. When we were originally doing circle tables I was just going to assign everyone to a table and they could sort it out from there.

I don't know if the spaces between names will confuse everyone. I did it like that as I am hiring tresle tables that seat 8 and pushing them all together to form the u-shape. The groupings make sense in my head as it shows me how many tables are there (even though they will all look like one big table) and they are grouped pretty well; one table is my parents, grandparents, and dad's side of aunts and uncles, another table is all of mum's side of aunts and uncles, one table is my cousins etc...
