90 days until my wedding...I am so sick of getting no name RSVP's back!

KenWay, on April 29, 2011 at 11:23 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

For some reason a few people ignore the line on the RSVP card they are suppose to write in their names! We even stated it off with the M________________________ for them to place the Mr., Mrs. or Miss but nooooo. They sent the cards back with no name, and get this...no name on the freaking return envelope either! I mean WTF man...I just don't get it. You need 2 seats but who are you????!!!! So in 6 weeks I will have to sit and look at who I don't have accounted for and call them to see who the idiots are they keep sending them with no name.

SMH...Oh well. At least I only have three more months of madness Smiley smile then its on to the next one!

I just think that a lot of people don't know what to write in the M__________, especially younger people. I am putting numbers on the backs of the rsvp cards just in case!

I'm printing return address labels for all of the guests, so their names will already be on them along with a stamp. Totally dummy proof!

I am just putting their names on the card cause they arent allowed to bring dates unless i invited their date.

@Christina D. that is a great idea(I'm taking notes)..but some ppl just dont understand how important R.S.V.P cards really are. But in all honesty before I did my research I didn't know what the "m" stood for.

You should always code the cards so that you don't have to rely on guests filling it out correctly. That is for any event you are hosting, but particularly any with a seating chart or guest-specific components.

I already numbered my RSVP cards, but thanks for the reminder, I need to update my cheat sheet this weekend before I mail out the invitations.

Since most of my guests are invited with a big family, I put four lines for names, then under the bottom line, in light gray font, I put Names of Guests. So far I haven't had any trouble with no name's! I did that because, while embarrassing to admit, when I was in college and received an invite to my cousins wedding, I had no clue what M_________ meant!! I thought about it for a couple of weeks before I sent it back and the only thing I could think of was Miss, which ended up being correct, but silly me didn't know if that was 100% right or not!

I numbered each in invitation and made up a spread sheet. I got a few like with no names too but since it had it numbered, I just looked at the spreadsheet to see who it was.

My rsvp date is 5/4 I have about 7 people left to get an answer from.

I had no clue of this numbering system. No one ever told me that lol. I wish I would have known before I actually mailed my invites. Too late now but its just annoying.

Thanks for the tip, I will be numbering mine when I get them back from Alaska and mailing them. That makes it so much easier to keep track, brilliant idea. Will be using that in my business as well for brides!

I'm going to either number mine, or write their names in so that they know exactly who is invited and wont be tempted to try to bring a guest if I didn't specify they could

I am trying to decided between number them or writing in their names. We also do not want people to add in a date when it is not addressed to their S.O.

Thank you for this. I am adding a subscript that tells them what to put on the M__________ and numbering them before they go out. And adding this to the FAQ on the website!

At least you are getting RSVPS!!! We have 35 days left and I think maybe 30 people have gotten back to us. We didnt do the mail outs though. We have a phone number, the wedding website, and an email address.

I always tell my brides to put numbers on the back of their rsvps...that way, if you can't read the handwriting, or if it comes back blank, you know who it came from. Also, once the rsvp day arrives, you have every right to call your guests that did not return rsvps. When you call them, be pleasant, tell them you look forward to seeing them and hope they will be attending. Let them know that they you are finalizing your count for your reception venue and would like to know if they plan on attending. They will respond either that they forgot to send back the rsvp and yes, they plan on attending, or they will let you know that they cannot attend. Hope that helps...people get busy, usually have good intentions to return the rsvp, but sometimes life gets in the waySmiley smile
