Disappointed..had my florist do a mockup and it sucked (looked cheap)

Sharon, on February 28, 2010 at 8:19 PM Posted in Planning 0 46

I wouldn't mind but our damn centerpieces are $200 each!! I'm looking for something tall and modern, I found this one...anyone see anything like this with callas? I like the tall with the fullness.

I would change the bottom part to a mixture of white and the fuschia.

It is not even close. I would not pay $200 for the one he did a mock up of.

The prob with your florist one is that you've got the height of the callas but then everything else is squished just at the top of the vase. Looks VERY odd.

Sharon, that is crazy and if I remember right yoru in austin (as am I). I know two vendors that do flowers that are amazing and very affordable. I don't know if your able to switch vendors. If you are email me, I'd happy to get you set up with them.

Plus the uneven stems and the cheapest flowers ever: carnations and white roses? for that price, get some lilies and orchids in there.

Can you talk to them about spreading out the base? I also think the third option that Denise posted is gorgeous. Could you send them more "inspiration" so they can re-do the mockup to something more in line with what you are looking for? The height of the callas just make the rest of it look cheap. Did you discuss the types of flowers that were supposed to be at the top of the vase (besides the callas of course)? I am guessing not, or they deviated, based on your opinions of the carnations Smiley sad How did they quote $200/centerpiece without knowing what flowers to use?

They knew the flowers, I'm thinking they just used the cheap ones for the mock up. The bottom was supposed to be alcatraz lilies, roses (in fuschia) and greenery...obviously there are no lilies in the mockup.

Shae - I can't use an Austin vendor as I'm getting married in Cabo. I'm going to send her the first photo I have and the 3rd one from Denise and tell her to make me a mock up with the flowers we discussed. I told my wedding planner I'm not happy. so unless i get a good mock up, I'll be switching.

I'm going to email them the orchid/calla on as well that Denise posted, if they did that in fuschia orchids, it would be stunning. Thanks guys, I knew I wasn't being a bitch for nothing. I'm usually really laid back , but just felt ripped off.

That definitely sounds like a plan. Don't settle...you are paying REALLY good money for them to turn out just right. Let us know how it works out!! Smiley smile

Did you show your florist that first picture? That arrangement is worth a lot more than $200. The one your florist did is worth $200 but the design needs work, as well as, some different flower choices. Denise's 3rd pic has the curly willow and bells of ireland with the callas at the top and it looks as though there is hydrangea(great choice for a full looking flower) and dendrobium orchids at the bottom. I would go back with the pictures and see if they can't come up with something better.
