Did I make a wedding guest dress faux pas?

I am attending a friend's wedding this weekend and picked out a dress that I could also wear on our honeymoon later this year. I tried a million dresses on and picked the only one that I loved. I am attending a friend's wedding this weekend and picked out a dress that I could also wear on our honeymoon later this year. I tried a million dresses on and picked the only one that I loved. It just hit me today that is has a lot of cream/off white in it. I did a palm slap to forehead on the way into work to work when i realized this.

I know it is taboo to wear white to a wedding, but I'm not sure if this particular dress would be inappropriate. It has a lot of other colors in it too. What do you ladies think? Is this "too white" to wear to a wedding. I don't want to be inappropriate. Thanks!

WEAR IT. If the bride is offended she is irrational. Don't indulge that. It's not white and it's not bridal. There is *nothing* wrong with it.

I think it's fine... I definitely wouldn't care if you wore it to my wedding!

If there's any doubt in your mind, I wouldn't wear it. The main color of the dress is definitly cream, that plus the length and cut, I do think it almost crosses the line. But, I'm a people pleaser. I wouldn't want to wear something that anyone could remotely construe as inappropriate. Maybe if you wear a colored cover up, and with the right accessories it wouldn't be so bad. But it is a long, cream dress. I wouldn't wear it to a wedding.

I LOVE that dress! If I you wore that to my wedding, I honestly would probably run right up to you and ask you where you got it! I think it's fine for a wedding.

I would wear that dress, just not to a wedding. Are you able to add like a belt or sweater to make it seem less cream/off white? Then it might work.

I will probably have to add some sort of cardigan or jacket because it's going to be a little chilly.

Could be iffy. If it was short I would say no problem, but the fact that it is white/cream AND long could be bad news.

I think it's fine....it's one thing to wear an all white or cream dress, it's another to have white or cream as part of the dress. There's lots of color to the dress; I don't think you have anything to worry about.

I would show the pic to the bride and ask her!

Personally I don't see the issue. It's not bridal looking at all!

If it were shorter, I think you would be okay.. but the length and the color combined, I would say no.

I think its fine.. I guess it comes down to how well you know the bride... Maybe add a colored shawl or cover up to it?

Not a big deal. All eyes are going to be on the bride anyway.

I agree with MrsCoakley -- the long, flowy skirt looks very bridal to me. I wouldn't wear it, cause I'd just feel terribly self-conscious, even if no one else cared.

I wouldn't wear it, personally, (but only because I see the comments brides make on WW about people who wear white or cream) but I also would not care if you wore it to mine. Awesome dress. Not inappropriate.

Keep in mind also that even if the bride doesn't care...there might be a few guests who give you a sideways glance or two.

You say you don't have anything else that is "spring wedding appropriate"; however, I don't think this is "springy" either.

I wouldn't wear it. I think the tie-dye type of design is a bit inappropriate, it kind of looks like you spilled red wine down the front of the dress.
