Did I make a wedding guest dress faux pas?

I am attending a friend's wedding this weekend and picked out a dress that I could also wear on our honeymoon later this year. I tried a million dresses on and picked the only one that I loved. It just hit me today that is has a lot of cream/off white in it. I did a palm slap to forehead on the way into work to work when i realized this.

I know it is taboo to wear white to a wedding, but I'm not sure if this particular dress would be inappropriate. It has a lot of other colors in it too. What do you ladies think? Is this "too white" to wear to a wedding. I don't want to be inappropriate. Thanks!

I don't see an issue with this dress.

    1. It's not all white and the darker colours really stand out

    2. It doesn't look bridal, it looks like a nice summer dress. It's not floor length.

It's okay.... But as a people pleaser, I always err on the side of caution.

Could you wear a cardigan or cute blazer over it? I think that would be completely fine.

This dress is fine to wear to a wedding, and really cute! looks nothing like a wedding dress so you are good

ETA: If you purchased at Macy's, you don't need the receipt to return it. They take everything lol

I like the cut, not sure about the color. It kinda looks like you've been attacked by zombies and are dirty and bloody. I'd just be careful, even if you do know your friend you may not know how she'll react in bride mode about the color, maybe just ask her?

@Jeanne, no if everyone said it was inappropriate I wouldn't wear it. I would just save it for the honeymoon since I can't return it. I said I would go buy another dress (and keep this one). I would just rather not spend the money right now since I'm saving for our own wedding. But I don't want to be "that girl" at the wedding.

    @Faran, no boots Smiley smile

@Melabella, I'm not sure what the bride is wearing. I don't know her very well. She is marrying my fiance's friend and only recently started to get to know her. Her ceremony is actually the day before and we were just invited to the reception the next day. I don't know if she has one dress or two.

    Thanks for the input everyone!

Just use burgundy or green accessories and shoes.

I think it's fine, the pops of color draw you away from the actual cream.

How well do you know the bride? I wouldn't have cared but I have a friend who most definitely would!

Oh well if it's for the reception the next day, I think it's fine. I don't know why that makes it different but I feel like it does. I feel like for an event separate from the ceremony (like the shower or engagement party or whatever) the white rule doesn't really matter as much.

I think it's fine, but I would ask myself, "What kind of bride has my friend been?" If she's been completely stressing over every detail, then pick something else and save this for later. If she's a "Whatever-- as long as we're married at the end" type, then I'm sure you're fine.

I'm with Trisha. I am a people please and tend to err on the side of caution. On the off chance it would offend the bride (which there is a chance or you wouldn't be asking, right?) then I would not wear it.

I think it's totally fine. It's not bridal at all and there are other colors besides cream. I wouldn't hesitate to wear it, especially because you love it.
