Davids Bridal Horror Stories

Katrina, on June 3, 2017 at 9:03 AM Posted in Planning 0 42

So I'm curious as to what everyone's Davids Bridal horror story is. I recently decided to order sample invitations because they were free and I'm curious about shipping and it has already been awful! When I'm on the app, it says the order has shipped but I have no other information than that. When I go through my email, it doesn't even have a tracking number but it 'shipped' on the 28th. I was really not wanting to have a bad time with them because I'm in a small town and they seem to be the only department wedding store unless I want to drive about 2 hours out of my way. Any suggestions on where I should go or what I should do? I'm considering just ordering invitations from Etsy but that doesn't exactly help with dresses. Thank you so much!

No horror story here. I did try on dresses there, and found the entire experience meh. It was crowded, the sales people were not super attentive, and nothing I tried on was right. I ended up going with a dress at BHLDN, where I had a great, personalized experience, a ton of one-on-one attention, champagne, and a gorgeous dress.

I want an experience like that but there are literally zero big stores around here besides DB. I'd have to drive at least 2 hours out of the way to be able to go anywhere nice

Davids Bridal was a complete nightmare for me. I left in tears and never went back. The lady told my family to keep their opinions to themselves because they don't matter, she criticized my Victoria's Secret bra because apparently "they're the worse bras ever," she repeatedly told me because of my size I would need a bigger dress (I'm a size 6), and she refused to let me try on the dresses I had chosen to try on because they didn't match the theme of my wedding. Needless to say, I left a bad review and never went back.

Wow that's terrible! I am so sorry to hear that!!! I hope you had a better experience elsewhere. I want to give them a chance but if I'm already having trouble with shipping with just sample invites, I don't know if I'm going to want to actually order anything else from them.

I haven't been into one yet, as the closest bridal shops are also 2 hours away. I heard my "local" DB was really meh. They just plop dresses on you and don't really do much else. But most people I know got their dresses there, so it can't be too awful?

I went to two different davids bridal. One for my wedding dress and a different for my bridesmaid dresses. I didn't have any bad experiences either time I went. The ladies who helped me were very friendly and nice. When I went wedding dress shopping the consultant I had was very excited she couldn't have been more helpful. The only thing I have a complaint about is that they didn't call me when my dress came in only emailed me and I didn't see the email until 3 weeks after it was sent to me. And they almost sent my dress back. I complained to the store manager and they helped me out with that.

Invitation samples normally come on a small envelope, so yes, no tracking number.

My bridesmaids bought dresses at DB, out of the country, and had great experiences.

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about DB so it's refreshing to hear some good ones! I think I might try mine and see how it goes. Maybe I'll get lucky and mine will be one of the good ones.

It really depends. I ordered shoes Tuesday, had them on my doorstep Friday! I had no issues getting my dress either, came in super fast. My sister had issues when she got her bridesmaid dresses though. Never told her they dicontinued the color so one bridemaid had to get a size way too big (it was all they had left) but they did offer free alterations.

I'm extremely impatient when it comes to online ordering so I like to know where my stuff is at all times. I've also never ordered from them so I'm hoping this will give me some bit of insight if I do decide to order from them again.

Someone told me they are able to dye wedding dresses? Is that true from experience?

I've had nothing but good experiences there so far. My dress, bridesmaids dresses all from there. My dress was supposed to take three months and it arrived in one. We've had great consultants working with us each time.

My guess is they just shipped it regular mail so there is no tracking number.

It really depends on the person that helps you. When i went shopping for my gown, the lady was wonderful and i had a great time. Shopping for bridesmaid dresses wasn't as good an experience. We had someone who was new, which i understand, but she just didn't seem very knowledgeable. For alterations, my fitting was fine but i had a lot of issues and had to change my work schedule to make it to the appointment they gave me because they were unwilling to be flexible and then when i got there i had been double booked. I'm assuming since the alterations manager made my appt that mine was scheduled first, but i had to wait fof someone else to help me so she could help the other person. I also had to struggle to carry my bra, shoes, slip and dress out the door bc the lady up front wouldn't acknowledge me or offer to help with the door. It really depends on who is working when you go and how well staffed they are (mine is clearly understaffed and it showed with about every appt.) I love my dress, so I'd say it's at least worth going and trying some on. If they aren't on the ball there, though, drive the 2 hours. Make a day of it. Take your girls, have lunch, shop for dresses and just have a fun day trip.

I went there and the last helping me was new and had no idea wtf she was doing. She looked at me and guessed I was 2-3 dress sizes bigger than I am. When she gave me the undergarments, the bra was too big so she started talking to me like I don't know my own bra size... Turns out it was packaged wrong, and the correct size fit as it should have. After that it was a lot of awkward silence. It got better but no. She was a bit pushy too. I tried on a bunch of dresses but it was my first time and I still have a year and a half. No I'm not saying "yes to any of these dresses" even if I wasn't making my own dress I wouldn't buy one from DB. Cause, no.

DB is hit or miss depending on the store. I went in during the middle of the day when the store was completely empty. I went in but didn't have an appointment. There were two girls sitting at a table at the entrance. When they found out I didn't have an appointment they didn't even want me looking at dresses. Told them I didn't want to try on just look. My mom came in a few mins later and began looking at MOB dresses. As I walked over to her both girls were there asking her if she wanted to try anything or needed help. Told her just let one of them know. Was a little annoyed that they would help her but I couldn't even look.

Also ordered a few pairs of shoes online (store didn't have my size). Knew I would have to pay for shipping to return if I didn't like. What they didn't tell me at time of order is that shoes might have to be returned to different addresses so you have to pay for multiple shipments to return.

I had a GREAT experience at DB. I went in there just to try on different styles so I could narrow down what I wanted to look for when I went shopping at a local boutique. I ended up falling in love with the 5th dress I tried on and my whole group was in tears <3

The attendant was so nice and helpful she made me feel totally at ease.

I honestly loved my experience with David's Bridal. I bought my dress there as well. My consultant was freaking amazing! Super professional, funny and had an awesome personality. She was the same woman I had help with my bridesmaid dresses. Maybe it carries store to store and depending on the kind of consultant you get.
