Davids Bridal Horror Stories

So I'm curious as to what everyone's Davids Bridal horror story is. I recently decided to order sample invitations because they were free and I'm curious about shipping and it has already been awful! When I'm on the app, it says the order has shipped but I have no other information than that. When I go through my email, it doesn't even have a tracking number but it 'shipped' on the 28th. I was really not wanting to have a bad time with them because I'm in a small town and they seem to be the only department wedding store unless I want to drive about 2 hours out of my way. Any suggestions on where I should go or what I should do? I'm considering just ordering invitations from Etsy but that doesn't exactly help with dresses. Thank you so much!

I think when I ordered my sample invitations from DB they sent the wrong one for one of the three which I thought was odd but they were free so whatever, I ultimately got my invitations through them and was satisfied though if I did it again I'd probably do Vista Print (which I did for thank you cards and enjoyed more.) I agree with a lot of the above, DB experience really depends on the consultant and time you go (if you can go at a less busy time than that helps for sure.) I had bad consultants and great ones throughout getting my dress, my BM dresses, and alterations there but at the end of the day I was happy with everything. I say give them a chance, ya never know. I had a good experience with DB. I wanted to go there first, before any other dress store, just to try on different styles and whatnot. The girl that helped me was super friendly and made me feel comfortable. The first dress I tried on, was the one I bought & it was on sale. I tried on about 12 dresses. They had a cute tradition where they asked me to ring a bell after I said yes to the dress and make a wish for my wedding day. It was cute, they were very reasonable, and my dress came in within 3 weeks. No complaints here.

I think I'm going to make an appointment and go in there and see what happens. I want to at least try it out and see how it goes but I also want to make sure I enjoy my experience. But I think I might try vistaprint. I saw something online about it and it seemed pretty easy.

My DB pros: Being a size 24, it was probably the only bridal store where I could actually try on dresses. The other stores said they had dresses for me; but when I got there, I could only hold them up against me...no thanks. We were able to find beautiful dresses for the BP at a reasonable price. We made an appointment during the week/late afternoon & got great assistance. It was a dress that my consultant pulled that I fell in love with! I got my dress in a month, as did one of my BMs. The other dresses are due in my July.

The cons: There accessories seem overpriced to me & can be found elsewhere/online. I'm going elsewhere for alterations based on the fact that they can't 'change' the style of the dress (they can add cap sleeves but can not cut off part of train). I found a local seamstress highly recommended & they prices are better. One BM is very petite & we noticed that BMs size 0-2 is similar to junior BMs size 16-18. We had to push a little to get them to pull junior sizes for my BM to try one. It was the same style/color dress & she will no longer need to have it hemmed!

I would go back to DB again; but just know that you won't get the champagne treatment, go during non-peak times & work with the consultant; but keep them on track, too (they pulled dresses close to my price range; but we did have to push them for the junior BM dress). So far, we've been impressed with the shipping timeline.

ETA - I've heard good things about www.azazie.com where you can send them your measurements & avoid most alterations : ) I sometimes wish I heard of them before dress shopping.

Chivy, the sales lady probably wanted to make sure she left you wiggle room for twerking.

    Ambrok,

I have heard of azazie and I definitely plan on using them for my bridesmaid dresses! They have so many different styles and colors. Do you just go to a place and get your measurements and then send them in?

She left the door open for it, so I came crashing through like the koolaid man.

No horror stories. I bought a dress, a week later changed my mind. They let me exchange it for a different dress. I loved my dress! It was gorgeous. I thought about ordering invites from them but I ended up going with vistaprint. Vistaprint was super cheap and they turned out great! Here's my dress because I love showing it off

@Miranda, I love that photo of your bridesmaids and you. Red is a hard color to pull off but it looks great on all of them.

I had a great experience with them they were a lot nicer and helpful compared to the local shops I went to. Make sure you make an appointment!

I had a fantastic experience at DB too. My consultant was great, and when my dress came in way too big (I ordered a size up from the sample) they exchanged it and refunded me the difference on the spot. My gown came in earlier than expected too.

I ordered samples from there. They came in a bigger envelope so there's no tracking number. It took a few weeks to receive them.

I have zero complaints with DB. I think the quality of your experience depends on the location itself, your consultant, and when your appt time is (Saturday afternoon will be busy - Wednesday night not so much).

As for your invitation sample, I'd call or email DB's customer service to see if you can get an order update. Like someone else mentioned, one individual sample may not get a tracking #

    Good luck!

I had a great experience buying my wedding dress there. I went on a weekday morning, though, so it wasn't crowded. I had all the consultants in the shop helping me which was nice. They pulled a couple of things I didn't ask for, but I hated the dresses and explained that and they stopped.

I also have gotten bridesmaid dress samples mailed from there and never had an issue. They came in envelopes so no tracking info.

Don't buy your invites there. You'll pay a million dollars and they're sub-par quality. Look at wedding paper divas, Vistaprint, or etsy.

I told myself I would NEVER shop there again after my high school prom! Two rips in the front, half of the diamonds hanging off, and the zipper would not zip. I ordered it from David's Bridal while I was there. They did not have my size. Once it came in I was in such a hurry to get back home I did not check it before I left the store. I know bad idea. So once I realized the disaster it was I went back and they WOULD not fix it. Handed me a zipper and said it was my fault. That's when I decided I would not get my wedding dress there.
