I am spending the next year growing my strawberry blonde hair as long as I can get it for the big day. After the honeymoon, I plan to chop it short. I've always had long hair and my FH was not thrilled when I mentioned this but I feel like it will be freeing after the stress of wedding planning.

My photographer said they often don't recognize the brides when they come in for the pictures after the wedding because so many cut their hair short.

Is anyone else doing this?

My hair is already short...I am trying to grow it out actually. I will prolly dye it though. I hate having the same hair color for too long.

I'll just bring it up again, if anybody missed my post. For those of you planning to cut your hair short after the wedding, you should consider donating it to sick children that have lost their own hair while going through Chemo treatments.

God I can't wait to chop it shorter! I'm growing it as long as it will let me (which I think it's reached it's maximum now) but I'm definitely getting the "wife chop" after the honeymoon!

Im growing mine out for the wedding to and depending on how it looks I may keep it. I have curly hair so it gets really frizzy. FH likes long hair.

My FH loves my hair short, but I am growing it out for the big day, and will be chopping it off right after and donating it.

@ Denise, i don't even know what my natural hair color is anymore, I'm scared to look (it's underneath because I only highlight the top). I think it's medium muddy brown yucky colour.

I've never heard it called the wife chop, the "mommy chop" definitely. Although I grew my hair when I had Sara because I was too busy with her to actually to got a salon.

Ha ha I went and got mine cut six months BEFORE the wedding - but I only cut one side short like to the ear and it blends and angles down post the shoulder on the other side! You can't even tell in an up do. Actually I love it so much and its in bridal style right now to have hair pulled back to one side, I'm going to have my short side pinned back. I aways wear my hair down now and most people that meet me don't realize the one side is cut short, they just think its styled to one side Smiley winking

I want to but he threw a fit. I'm torn because it's a pain to take care of but I get complimented on it on almost a daily basis... I might do a few inches

I'm trying to grow mine long again too. It was long forever and ever, and Brian likes it that way, but I had chopped it a few summers ago, and then again this past summer.

Now I'm stuck though. I haven't cut my hair at all since this summer, and had a really bad experience with a horrible girl.

I know I should go get a trim, because that will help it grow, and also so it won't just be long, it will actually look nice, but I am so untrusting with my hair! That's usually why it's long- because I have major anxiety about ever getting it cut!

I did this and it was so funny. I told my husband as soon as the wedding is over im cutting it off and he was like okay baby. Then I go into the hairdresser and when she is about to cut it (an angle bob so really short at the back) he looked at me and went how short are you going. I had to reassure him all would be okay. Half an hour later we walked out with him loving it but the look on his face when they started cutting was priceless. It felt so great to chop it all off.

Laura, I've actually heard that trimming your hair to make it grow faster is actually a myth! And I know EXACTLY what you mean about not trusting people with your hair. My hair is crazy curly, and I've seen the same hair dresser since I can remember haha. I don't trust anyone with it. Ever. Lol.

I'm not going to be doing this because I love having long hair (just got it trimmed the other day so that it will be nice for the wedding). However, I plan on getting another tattoo sometime after the wedding, so I guess that's a permanent change LOL

I have always had long hair, but I do want to cut it! I am waiting until after my wedding becaue I have a tatoo in between my shoulder blades. My FH's family is anti tatoo so I am wearing my hair half up and half down so I do not have to hear any complaints, but I am cutting it after my wedding!

I will definitely be doing it and donating it to lock of love. my hair is super thick and curly and gets crazy in humidity. we are waiting a week before we leave for the honeymoon so I will probably get it cut before that. not too short though, just at my shoulders.
