Choosing between two venues

Nikki, on January 23, 2013 at 12:40 PM Posted in Planning 1 14

Hello WW Ladies Smiley smile

My fiance and I are down to picking between venues. One is at a hotel by the beach and the other is at a country club. Both are within our budget and are accessible to our guest. :-/ We are having a difficult time choosing... does anyone have any suggestions as to how to pick between the two?

Thank you!

Did you like toe people better at one verse the other or feel more "at home" at one?

Who has better reviews? Better customer service? Better food?

I second Mrs. S. which venue do you think is going to make your day feel special and as stress less as possible?

I like Gina's response! The more "at home" you feel, the more comfortable you'll be, in my opinion. If you can relax and know that everything is being taken care of, that would be ideal!

And, the more you click with the venue's staff now, the more likely it will continue that way!

If all things are equal, I'd pick the venue that would allow my guest to just go right upstairs and go to sleep (the hotel) after partying at my reception.

    BEACH!! BEACH!!!!

    Or FOOD!! FOOD!!!

Or you can be more rational about it. But those would be the major factors for me, besides customer service.

We were in the same place as you, having to choose between a hotel and a country club. We ended up choosing the hotel because it was easier not to worry about transportation of the wedding party and guests after everything was done.

We were stuck too, 2 venues about 10 mint from each other both about the same price. it came down to when i brought my parents to see the one venue didnt even offer them a glass of water and the other venue started giving them their signature cocktail and made them feel welcomed and thats how we picked. also the one venue did not offer food tastings (i knew how the food was as we have been to events there before) and the one we selected offered us a full food tasting for free

    Think about transportation...

Are you doing everything in one place or are you coming from a church/ceremony site?

Where do you plan to get ready? At the venue? At Home? Where is that relative to the ceremony site.

You may not want to travel far AFTER the wedding - trust me - you'll be exhausted!

@Gina P: both places were very friendly, however the country club coordinator was more available on the weekends and they seemed to be helpful.

@Mrs S.: I only have read one review online that i could find on the hotel. The country club had excellent reviews especially on the food.

Its quite a dilema because when we saw the hotel we thought that was it for sure. However, when we saw the country club we loved it too.

Sit and think about what you want. From what you wrote, how you wrote it, it sounds like you want the country club. BUT again it's your decision and you have to maybe even write down the pros and cons...

Can you make them choose you? Get quotes from each and revisit them. Tell them your dilemma and see if they can give you a reason you should pick them instead!
