Cheap/fake wedding ring set?

Snarky, on June 18, 2015 at 1:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 57

Did anyone buy a cheap/fake wedding ring set to wear when they go on their honeymoon or out of town? I'm going on vacation in two months and I don't want to bring my rings but I feel uncomfortable going bare-handed. I was also hoping to find something that can be worn again, so maybe a ring set that doesn't look 100% bridal? Ideas? I've been searching etsy but I can't find anything.

Edited for spelling.

Why are you concerned about not wearing them on vacation? Theft? Loss? Amazon sells lots of stuff.

We went to europe earlier this year and I wore my e-ring without any issue or concern (if that helps). I also plan to wear it when we honeymoon in Fiji.

Ps. how did the vet appointment go?

Can't help you...I wore mine on the honeymoon and all over the Southern Caribbean and on vacation last winter and wasn't worried about. I just made sure to clench my left hand into a tight fist when I jumped into water.

I bought a cheapie/fake engagement ring to take to Grenada with me (I was staying off resort and the friend we were visiting there got mugged a couple of months before we went down there). I went to one of those mall kiosks and got one for $15.00. It looks pretty similar to my actual e-ring. But honestly, I wore it for like the first two days and then swapped it for an even cheaper plain gold band (one of a set of ten I got from Aldo for like $7 lol). It felt weird wearing a fake e-ring.

I feel naked without anything, but I'd just find something non-bridal and simple that you like instead.

Loss. I'm paranoid and I lose things easily especially when I'm out of my element.

The appointment is in 2 hours.

Maybe make it a souvenir purchase?

I had a friend who used her e-ring as her wedding ring and just wore one ring. On one of her vacations, she just bought a plain band and now she mostly wears that.

I found my actual band on Etsy from Two Birch Jewelers and even with an upgraded metal it was still pretty reasonably priced. The band with sterling silver and cubic zirconia was $70. Not the highest quality materials, but it is sturdy enough

I bought a fake set at Target for the honeymoon. I didn't want to risk it getting lost in the ocean because my fingers get smaller when I'm cold. I wear it when we go to the river or lake too. Or anytime I'm around water and plan on getting drunk.

I wore mine on the HM and on other trips we've gone on. I haven't had any issues. If you are worried though check out amazon. They have a ton.

I bought a fake on Amazon that looks very similar to mine. I wore it on our honeymoon to Jamaica and when we do things like go camping. My ring is insured but I would be crushed (sentimental reasons) if I ever lost it.

My e-ring was getting soldered when I was going on my bachelorette and I didn't want to go without a ring. So I stopped at Walmart and got a cheapo ring for 9 bucks. It did the job.

I can certainly understand you fear. We were engaged in the Dominican Republic and the entire trip I was terrified I would lose the ring. We went snorkeling in the Caribbean Ocean, we rode dune buggies through the jungle and it scared the crap out of me. I am planning to check out Amazon or some of these little shops in the mall.

I bought a fake set from a random costume jewelry shop in NYC. Cost about $15 total and looks cheap but not necessarily fake. Wore it on vacation in Mexico (stayed in a house, not a resort, so I was worried about bringing my real ring) and in Aruba. It has yet to turn my finger green, so I think it was a fairly successful purchase.

    I got a fake ring from Kohl's.

We went to Roatan Honduras right after we got engaged and FH reeeeally didn't want me taking my ring to a third world country, even though Roatan isn't really like the rest of Honduras. He was worried someone would see my ring and try to mug us or something. And I needed to get it resized anyway.

I got a Diamonique set off of QVC.

On vacation I can get careless without my ring dish and won't wear it swimming or in the sun so for peace of mind have a fake set.

I bought a silver replica set of my rings from Amazon. It looks similar enough until you actually put the real one next to it and then the replica looks tiny, but its perfect for camping or vacations and the honeymoon

I got my set off ebay. And it looks almost exactly like my real set, except it's fake. And it looks fake up close. But it was $32. It was really helpful all the times Jared's had my ring for all those months.

The first picture is the real ring. The second picture is the fake ring. It also came with 2 bands that look like my real wedding band.

Post your ring (if you don't mind) and I'll search ebay for you. I'm slow at work this week.
