Champagne toast, or toast with what you have?

Mrs. DeNigris, on October 2, 2017 at 7:45 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 52

The title says it all!

Should we have a champagne toast, or should we just let people toast with the drink that they have? The champagne toast would be an additional $255.

If it's needed, I'll pay it. But if people don't care, I'd rather save the money.

If you want them to toast with what they have, make sure they know so that they can have a drink with them.

We're skipping it just an extra expense that wouldn't be worth it for us

Not necessary to do champagne. I didn't even realize my cousin didn't have it at hers till the way home. It was not missed.

I'd read something about how much of the champagne isn't drunk and then thought about who we were inviting and decided to pass. There is a sparkling wine included so people can have that but many won't so they can toast with what they have. I don't like champagne so I'm fine not paying extra for it.

I love champagne but we did toast with what you're drinking. Many people I know aren't big bubbly drinkers so we didn't want to have the additional expens!

Every wedding I have gone to had nasty warm champagne and it was wasted. I would pass. I love champagne but only will drink it if it's decent!

Considering majority of my guests never drink champagne, I'm skipping it. One less expense. I'd rather put it towards something else.

I'd skip it unless you know the majority of your guests like champagne. We had everyone toast with what they had, and no one missed the champagne.

    I'd skip it.

We told our caterer we'd skip the champagne toast but FH's parents really want one so they offered to just buy the champagne for us lol.

We had the DJ announce that we were about to do toasts about 10 minutes prior and everyone grabbed what they wanted.

I'd rather people toast with what they like. If they don't love bubbly why give it to them? Have it available at the bar but don't have it put out on the table.

I agree with MrsBdeG have your DJ make an announcement that you will be doing the toast in Blank Minutes and everyone grab a drink... May sure you give enough time so people can get to the bar and not overwhelm your bartender Smiley smile

We did toasts with what you're drinking, after reading that a lot of champagne is wasted. No one seemed to mind, or at least they didn't say anything to us

FH and i had champagne glasses glued to our hands all night. but most of our guests did not. our champagne toast would have been 6-700 so we took it out of our package because they may or may not drink it. all our guests were fine drinking whatever they were drinking, ordering a glass was always an option at the bar

I can't drink champagne so we are passing out shots for anyone that wants to do a shot with us instead. If not they can toast with what they have.

We have an open bar but for those who are not drinking, we have sparkling cider. Our venue doesn't charge a corkage fee on that but they do on champagne.

We did toast in hand. I was drinking tequila and definitely wouldn't have wanted to mix. Our cocktail hour was open bar and most people went straight for cocktails. I think the champagne would have gone to waste.

Mine comes included so that's why I'm doing it, but if it was extra change I wouldn't!
