Champagne toast, or toast with what you have?

The title says it all! Should we have a champagne toast, or should we just let people toast with the drink that they have? The champagne toast would be an additional $255. If it's needed, I'll pay it. But if people don't care, I'd rather save the money.

We are doing toast with what you have because a lot of our friends don't drink or don't drink champagne

A lot of people don't like champagne and neither do we. So we are toasting with whatever people have in hand.

This is something that, as a guest, I'd be fine with either way. We ended up doing a champagne toast at our wedding because it was included in the wedding package and man, it was tasty champagne (so tasty that I just stopped typing this so I could have a moment of silence to remember that champagne). But, it wasn't an extra expense for us because of the venue package. If it wasn't included, I probably wouldn't have even thought to ask about getting champagne for the toasts. Similarly, I have never been at a wedding and thought, "where's the champagne?" if the toasts happen and I toast with whatever I'm drinking.

Most people will have a drink of some sort since cocktail hour will have just ended. The amount of champagne that we pour out is crazy. I find it to be not a needed for toasts. Bubbly can add up....ours is $7.95 per person so that can add up. Sometimes just the bridal party will have champagne on their tables.

I did a champagne toast but picked a sparkling wind that was a little sweeter bc my group doesnt like dry as much. we used the verdi spumante and i had people ask for me. to me it depends on the flavor. if you do a what they have let people know to grab a drink.

I was one who was always going to splurge for the champagne toast (I love champagne), but I read an article by a wedding planner on ways to save money on your wedding. This is one of the things they suggested you cut and just have people use the drink they have. Often times people only take a tiny sip or don't drink it at all and it goes to waste. I then started to think about all the people I know who don't really like champagne (FH included in this) and thought it's better to cut. I think we're just going to have the DJ make some sort of announcement, like grab a drink at the bar and get ready to hear from the maid of honor, or something like that. If people want to toast with champagne, they can order that, and those who don't can get their preferred cocktail.

Ours is included with our per person fee so we are having it. But we wouldn't add it on if it wasn't included.

No champagne here. Neither of us have ever enjoyed champagne so we're doing drinks in hand for the toasts.

I say what you have. I have been to too many weddings that the guests only took a sip then tossed it because they don't like champagne. Plus it saves $$

We'll have some sparkling wine (and cider) available at the bar, but we'll let people toast with what they like. FH doesn't drink anything bubbly or alcoholic so a champagne toast would feel silly.

We have non drinkers for religious, health, and sobriety reasons, so we're going with toast with what you got.

We would skip, but it's included in our venue package. I'm sure it'll be cheap champagne and mostly wasted

Toast with what they have. I'm already paying for an open bar and my venue charges for the champange toast pp. Heck no they got open bar better go get a drink from the bar. But you don't need it to answer your question.
