Ceremony Venue: Modern or Traditional?

The choice of ceremony venue has been switched up too! Less couples are getting married in a place of worship (just 25%!), and more couples are choosing to say "I do" in gorgeous gardens and unique spaces! Did you choose a modern or traditional ceremony venue?

We got married in a church. We didn't ever consider not having it at the church, it was actually the very first thing we booked! We based our reception venue off of our church location because we knew we want ed it to be convenient for guests. It was less than a mile from the church!

    Modern.

We went with a old theater. We are not religious, so a church was never going to happen.

I feel like it would be both. Its not my place of worship but it's a beautiful chapel from the 1920's

Modern. Neither one of us are religious. We're having it out side up in the mountains.

Modern meets traditional: We’re getting married at an open air chapel in a state park.

Traditional. We thought about the idea of an outdoor ceremony, but a lot of factors made us change our minds. We are getting married in April, so rain will be a huge problem. Also, we aren't really big on barns/rustic themes (I want nothing country about my wedding, haha), and most outdoor venues here are barns. Plus my FH wanted a pipe organ for our ceremony music, so we will be getting married in a church. We will have the reception in another venue so we can have the freedom to serve alcohol and dance (some churches don't allow dancing apparently).

Modern! We are not very religious. We opted to get married and have our reception in one place, at our barn venue.

Traditional! Having the ceremony and reception at our church was completely free so it was the obvious choice for us!

That is awesome!! We originally were to marry in my FH's family church that they have attended since 1837. I definitely understand.

Traditional. It's a non-denominational chapel but we chose it more for the ambiance than the religion factor! Original wood, stained glass windows, it's stunning!

Traditional. We knew we wanted a Catholic wedding mass (FH was raised Catholic and I just recently converted). We're getting married at the parish I joined. Smiley smile

Modern. We're getting married in a beautiful 1920's building with exposed brick. We will have a lot of Christian aspects to the wedding, though, as our Faith is very important to FH & I!
