Exactly! We're doing a traditional catholic wedding mass & I think a program is a must so that guests can follow along. Short of that, I think programs are totally unnecessary.

I think they're definitely not necessary! But we opted to DIY ours so that it saves money and the guests have something to fan themselves with seeing as it may be hot at the time of year we are getting married and it is an outside ceremony.

Not neccessary! We are having a run down of the day..... just so people to know where to go and when. But it will be a board for everyone to see. I don't like to waste and it's more environmentally friendly!

Not necessary unless it is a very in depth religious ceremony!

Absolutely not necessary. It just seems like a waste to me. I know few people do it and it's fine if it's what they want but I don't see it as a necessity.

No, unless it's a long ceremony or unusual format.

I think it's a waste of money because what will people do with them afterwards. Most people leave programs behind and the program may even change within that day or a few hours

Not necessary. Our ceremony will probably only be about 30 minutes long, max. People don’t need a play by play.

So I'm going to be the odd one out and say, I find them to be SUPER helpful regardless of the length if it's a wedding where I don't know both sides.

We are doing a short outside ceremony (~30 min). The programs are a template I found and will be printed on cardstock through Staples. There won't be much, but it will give the names of everyone involved in the wedding. I think this is super helpful because then you'll know who is who in the wedding party. Most of my extended family will have never met my FH let alone my FH's family. I think this will encourage the mingling after since they will know people's names.

I think my programs will be $13 when it's all said and done.

Unnecessary to me. Unless you are having an uncommon wedding, I don't see why they are necessary. We won't be doing them.

Absolutely necessary for us. We're having a Catholic wedding but only half of the guests are Catholic (my relatives). I'm also Vietnamese, and my priest uncle (who is billingual) is officiating. So yes, 100% needed.

Not necessary. Our ceremony will only be around 30 minutes. I plan to have a large board/sign that lays out the overall timeline for the day, but not go minute by minute!

Size of your wedding AND are there any elements that are unique to you as a couple? For instance, our wedding we're going to have blessings and prayers in Hawaiian. my family doesn't speak Hawaiian. They'll need to know what is going on, though. Programs are an easy solution.
