I plan on having a cash bar for our reception....I read in an article that was rude....should I just pay for the bar....I don't really want to because it's not in my budget

@Beutivant come to NOLA! We drink for everything! I think I'm even going to serve champagne (gasp) before the wedding!

If you were having a party at your house and invited your friends and family, would you make them pay for drinks? It's no different at your reception. Beer and wine is fine? or offer alcohol at the cocktail hour only? Or if it's absolutely not in your budget then have a dry reception? But having your guests pay is rude

@meet the sheets; of course we can!

We have a lot of ritual elements that go into the ceremony, at the couples' request; I have couples who love wine tastings, couples who met at bars or theme parties, couples who toast every moment of their life with a specific liquor.

    Of course we include it!

This thread is great!!! I'm new to WW so I have to ask.....who is Karen? I saw someone ask what kind of bar Karen had and I saw another thread about a menu and someone commented about Karen on there and her menu or something. I'm just curious lol. That sounds like to may be a fun story.

Karen hates buffets - like the way most people hate pedophiles.

EDIT: like the way more people hate pedophiles and cash bars.

@Faye, sorry but you don't speak for all Canadians. I don't want to be lumped in with your opinion and be made to sound like an idiot.

Cash bars are not "the norm" in my social circle. I've never actually seen one at a wedding. I definitely have never seen drink tickets, wow.

    Born and raised Canadian.

Also @Faye, please don't call Americans entitled. Again, you don't speak for me.

@Natalie do what works for you period if people leave because it's cash bar or upset with you over alcohol then they weren't there to support you anyway and that should be an eye opener for you I get it people but it's really not that serious

Ultimately I don't care what the cash bar/drink ticket brides do. I'm just trying to keep you from embarrassing yourselves.

Totally acceptable. I will be doing a cash bar at my wedding and have no qualms with it. My brother did the same, and you know what, not a single person complained. This thread is out of control. @Natalie, you do what you need to do, don't listen to others. If you want a cash bar, do a cash bar. I always bring cash to weddings, just in case I need it.

We are really wanting to incorporate drinking a beer into our ceremony, trying to think of the logistics of it. But it's definitely going to happen. I mean the wedding is at a winery and FH is brewing a beer along with our other craft beers at the wedding

BVilleBride, I did a kegstand at my reception. I feel like it could have happened sooner of it were not in the Catholic church. Maybe a funnel?
