Can you breathe in your dress? LOL

Z, on March 26, 2010 at 8:25 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I went in for my final fitting yesterday and it looked great but when I took a really deep breath I noticed the restriction. Is that going to be a problem? Anyone else worried about breathing the day of your wedding? It looks so great I really am thinking that breathing is optional.

I've worn corsets at parties and whatnot that looked awesome and were somewhat difficult to breathe in. My dress isn't like that, but it's not like I've never sacrificed breathing for fashion before. :p

Yep I wasnt worried until we found out about the pregnancy than i got it let out. Just make sure you can sit down comfortable without struggling to breathe but if its really uncomfortable get it let our just a tiny bit

So are wedding dresses made to be easily let out?

I wear a bodice all the time. Its a joke that if you can breath in it, its too loose. Ive actually gotten real comfortable in mine. As long as you can sit in it you will be fine. Try taking shallow breaths for the most part and if you have to take a deep breath try breathing down to your stomach. It takes practice. Or you can have your dress altered.

LOL, no! I had it altered to be tighter. I don't want to let it out. I altered it to look good. I just realized that it's a little hard to get those real deep belly breaths.

@Danie- are there instructions somewhere for learning how to breathe like that?

Like danie said take smaller breathes you can proctice at home, by holding in your belly and taking the short breathes it takes pratices, but you'll get the hang of it and make sure you can sit in your dress though cause you don't want your dress split down the side

Yeah, I'll have to pull the skirt up a little I think. I didn't practice sitting (which was really stupid) but the skirt is full so I'll use that to give it a little more flexibility. My problem is that as soon as I realize I can't take a deep breath I start hyperventilating trying to breath deep. I think you're right- I need to practice!

I wanted to introduce to you the "Body Magic' garment. Not only does it make you lose 2-3 sizes instantly, but it is designed to make you shed and keep off any extra pounds you may have to as shape your body. I especially recommend this garment for brides....and Bridal party. It is extremely comfortable and you will be able to BREATHE....

Please stop through my page and check out the additional pictures.

Nope-can't really breathe in mine. I have to lose weight in order to breathe comfortably. Although today I discovered that I need to lose weight in order to fit into my spring clothes! Aaaghhh!

If time allows, alter to a larger one. this is a moment critical in your lifetime, so make it comfeotable at least.

I'm the person who only brought 4/5 inch heels to New York for the weekend (LOTS of walking), so I would definitely not breathe to look good Smiley winking

Just wanted to share that I was the same way on my wedding day and I was miserable by the end of it. Plus it was hard to eat when it was difficult to breath so I barely ate any of my awesome cake. Not recommended...make sure you are comfortable

Eh-breathing is overrated. Hahaha. My sorority sisters and I were firm believers in "choosing stilettos over safety (SOS)" LOL

I grew up in England, stiletto strappy sandals in 5 inches of snow? yep. Mini skirt in zero degrees (no hose, tights..just blue/red legs) - yep. I'm not one to chose comfort over what looks good. So I guess I'm a bad person to comment on this post!

I didn't buy cute heeled boots until I moved to central PA. FH was like, uhhh, you're wearing stilettos?? And I'm like, yeah, why not? Uhh, I don't know, there's a foot of snow on the ground? I still don't see his point Smiley winking
