I completely agree, it is very disrespectful. Especially after you spent hundreds of dollars to look spectacular on your day!

Nope, nope, nope! I didn't even think about the makeup part! I was more worried about my dress and his suit! Now I feel even better with my decision!

I don't even want to cut the cake. I respect the hard work that baker's do, but I just don't care about the cake. Food is to be eaten in my eyes.

Ehhhh, i get that alot of money goes to hair and makeup but i dont get all the angry responses and so many people saying its insulting and disrespectful.
Its a simple silly tradition that goes both ways that is all in good harmless fun.
The only way i would consider it disrespectful is if you said no and it happened anyway.

No Cake in Neither one of our Faces!! Rules already established. Neither one of us would do that to each other anyways, because we respect each other way too much. Its No purpose in doing that.

No cake in the face for us. I have a severe phobia of getting and being dirty so I would like to prevent a trip to the hospital from a severe panic attack. I don't think it's disrespectful. I think it's personal preference. If I could handle a little cake on my face we would do it.

Absolutely not. I know it's a fun thing for some couples, but it seems really rude to me. FH and I have better things to do than try to clean frosting off our faces lol

No. Not even up for discussion. I find it aggressive and mean, actually.

I find it rude. There is no “fun” in being mean to your new husband/wife. Not a good way to start a marriage. Lovingly feeding each other is a sweet gesture.

NO NO NO! If he were to smash cake in my face I think my MMA training will come out and he will be in a rear naked choke in two seconds.

It can be cute but not when I'm paying a lot of money for my make up to be done....

As a kid I always used to think "That would be SOOOOO funny!"

Now that I see how much hair, make up, and my dress is going to cost....no way lol.

That being said, if FH decided on a whim to do it I probably wouldn't be mad. I would laugh it off.

NAY! I have never seen this pulled off in a cute or sweet way, it always just ends so mean AND you get your makeup messed up, yikes! Just no. Who wants to spend the rest of their reception smelling soured frosting that got stuck in your nose? Gross! Why is this even a thing, does anyone know?!

Yes! It's really mean! Feeding each other is sweet, but where did the smashing cake in your face come from?

That's a hard no. I can't stand anything touching my face.

I just asked FH about this and lol he doesn't want to do any of it, feeding each other or a smash. I do think planning out a smash is a bit weird...shouldn't something like that be spontaneous? Either way, I am curious, if you don't do the feeding thing, can you just skip the whole thing, or do you cut the cake together? To be honest, I have just never paid attention to this part of a wedding.
