Why are you buying box wine? There are cheap wines that are not box... I don't know why you would want box. I think it is harder to handle than bottles. If there's a reason, then no, I can't help you, otherwise, I would go with bottles.

Sorry! I'm not a big wine drinker so I dont have a recommendation for you. I have heard that there are decent wines available in boxes. One bride on here bought boxed wine and had it poured into decanters so that people didn't know it was from a box. the wine snobs didn't know the difference

We thought it would be cheaper, thats the only reason why we thought of getting a boxed wine.

From some research I have found Three Thieves Bandit Cabernet Sauvignon, and Thirsty Lizard Shiraz (not sure if that comes in red though..)

Hit up Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. They have 2 buck chucks which can be pretty dang good.

I'm marrying into a family of wine snobs, so I forget what brands of boxed wine I've liked. I like the above idea of using decanters for it though. And Shiraz is a red wine (a very yummy one too!)

If you're doing boxed i would also suggest you invest in a few decanters. They'll look nicer and its far easier to pour from a decanted than a box. You can find a simple glass one for around $10.

I can't think of what it's called but it's a bright purple box and a shiraz...seriously so good! It's what my fam drinks for everyday drinking Smiley smile Another popular one are the "Black Box" brand but the purple one's my fav... I never look at the name when I buy it! lol

I would also suggest decanters. We are doing a Sangria. It will actually come from a jug(My sommelier FH is scratching and twitching, but we are going big time premium on every other liquor. Our crowd are not big wine drinkers). We are putting fruit in it, and putting it in this dispenser.

The bee hive dispenser sells at the Christmas Tree Shop for $15.99.

The other dispenser, which we are using for juice mixers, can be found at Bed Bath and Beyond for $19.99. Don't forget the 20% off coupon if you buy it. I am sprucing it up a bit with a fall leaf, and the name of the miser at the neck of the bottle. I will tie it with a gold ribbon.

I am in the wine biz, I only sell one boxed wine, which is pretty spendy (3Lt retails for $25.) Anyway, from my days on the retail side of the biz, I recall Franzia having one called "Chillable Red", which would be sweeter in style.

I agree with the others that you should be able to find bottles t the same price (per serving) as the box. Depending upon how sales are handled in your state, you may get a discount for buying by the case.

I'm a big cheap wine person, the fruitier the better HOWEVER, you will get odd responses if you serve boxed wine at a wedding. So to save yourself I would do like others have said try trader joes and other places, I second the buying a case for a discount!

Honestly, box wine has come a long way since the uninspired boxes of blush we were introduced to in the 1980s.

Black Box California Cabernet is a solid choice as is the Wine Cube Cabernet Sauvignon-Shiraz California 2007 (at Target) and the Campobarro Tempranillo.

Wine doesn't have to be expensive to be really good. I would suggest getting some white wine for the celebration too as not everyone shares our love of reds. Black Box and the Target Wine Cubes both have good choices there too.

Honestly, box wine is the ultimate choice if you want to really pay for wines not the packaging. I started believing that "Wine doesn't have to be expensive to be really good." after ordering some good combinations of red and white boxed wines from their special offer. Visit http://www.prestigeselections.com/ for a huge collection of premium quality boxed wines. All orders are delivered by FedEx.

1 box of wine is usually three liters, equal to about 4 bottles of wine, but some are 5 liters. A bottle of wine usually gives 5 glasses, so a 3L box of wine should give 20 glasses.
