bridesmaids with tattoos!

Jessica , on January 20, 2013 at 9:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 13

Hey, everyone!

I have two bridesmaids with rather large tattoos on their upper backs that I would prefer to go unseen during the wedding. However, I am having quite a bit of trouble finding dresses that are not strapless and actually cover that part of the back. Anyone know anywhere I can find some dresses that would work?

Thanks!

How about going with a bolero (small jacket)? This way you could still go with strapless dresses.

Or you could give them wraps for gifts, this might cover up some or most of it?

That's not a bad idea! Definitely something to consider

Have you considered using a tattoo cover up? This way you don't have to limit your dress choices. I've never used it but I've heard a lot of people metion doing this ( I think there are several products available) but maybe you could look into it.

I think it's inappropriate to ask someone to cover their tattoos for your wedding. It's a part of their body.

    That said...

I think the tattoo cover up may be asking a bit much.

The main reason, Leanna, that I would like the tattoos covered is for the photos, so as to keep them looking classy. I am not big on tattoos myself but don't have anything against them. During the reception they can show them off without me worrying at all.

I've discussed this with my bridesmaids and they are both more than understanding.

I think if they leave their hair down it may cover the majority of the tattoos as well. But all things considered, the bolero idea may be the way to go.

I have the same problem I have one girl who has a god awful ugly man tattoo and she refuses to cover it up, and I guess I understand it's her body, my only problem is that I am having a very traditional catholic wedding and my family is so traditional idk what I am going to do. it sucks! And everyone will see it because at the church the BM's stand in the pew with their backs to everyone.

Wow. I can only imagine. She won't even wear a shrug for the ceremony? I feel like she should at least be respectful of your family religion and traditions.

One of my bridesmaids has two rather large & visible tattoos ... she recently also shaved half her hair off Ruby Rose style and got her nose pierced ... and I love it! But I guess it's personal preference but I wouldn't want her to cover up as its part of who she is. My cousin covered her tats with make-up for her wedding... but it didn't do a great job...

Let the girls find whatever type of dress they want to wear (unless you're picking out the dress) strapless, low back, etc. Let the photographer take the pictures basically without the tattoos covered up. Put in a request to make sure he edits them and photoshops the tattoos out of the picture. That way you can still find the dress you/they want but still have the pictures without tattoos.

One of my bridesmaids has two large tattoos as well, one on her side and one on her forearm. And my MOH has one on her calf and one on her back. But im not asking them to cover up, i think the tats show their personality. Plus the one on my MOH's calf has my niece and nephew's names on it. I understand if the tats are something stupid or ugly but if they are tasteful, i would let them go if i were you. if they are stupid or ugly, then maybe have them wear a shawl or bolero.

I think it depends on your relationship with the person as to whether it's inappropriate to ask. Yes, it's a part of their body, but it wasn't there when they were born. I wouldn't ask someone to cover up a mole or a birthmark, but if it's a distracting tattoo they chose to get I would.

My MOH has a giant multi-colored cupcake tattoo on her right ankle. At first, I was just going to look for long BM dresses, but then I thought cocktail length dresses would fit the feel of our wedding and the venue better. I asked her if she would mind using tattoo cover up for the wedding and she said "I was already planning on it." So, that was easy.

I have tattoos that can potentially be seen, they're small, but if a friend asked if I'd cover them up for pictures sake on the wedding I'd do it with no offense taken. If these are the closest people to you, they shouldn't be too offended at a simple request like that. Plus, they can always say no, then you have to deal with it.

Yeah, luckily my bridesmaids are okay with covering them.
