Bride need hair HELP??? MICRO OR NOT

Kami D, on June 18, 2012 at 9:01 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

Brides, my wedding is in less than 2 months and I don know what to do with my hair. I am having a fairly traditional wedding with a big traditional dress. The problem is, I am not sure if getting micro braids is an appropriate hair style.

I have a very itchy scalp when I am wearing a wig or sew in weave. So my trial hair style was a diaster because of the instant itching. What do you think I should do...MICROS OR NO?

I think it will look ok if you curl the braids really nice or do a nice updo style with the curls falling. I think it should look fine.

I like the idea of micros b/c you wno't have to worry about doing your hair everyday while on your honeymoon and you can style it in an updo or curl it or whatevery you would like with no worry. The only thing I would want to do is make sure you can fit the comb of your veil through them.

On of my friends had micros and I styled it in an updo, the pics came out beautiful. the only thing with micros is, it pulls your edges. Look into Tree Braids. It quicker and easier on your edges. It gives the illusion of a weave but your hair is braided up. If you decide on Tree Braids, think about either, deep wave, loose deep, or wet and wavy human hair that way what ever style you do with the braids it will have a curl to it.

I wore my hair braided and i'm so glad I did. I recommend. It'll look lovely and completely appropriate if you style it nicely.

I agree with Rowena, micro braids and very pretty and can easily be styled up for the ceremony and then down and curly for the reception. You can even do half up/half down. I found this on the internet and it shows that micro barids can really be pretty on a bride. Hope it make you feel better about your decision. Smiley smile

I'm going to disagree here. I know to each it's own, but to me, the micro braids take out some of the elegance from the classic/traditional look. JUST my opinion though.

Are you wearing your hair up or down? Is wearing your natural hair with minor extensions an option?

I, personally am not a fan of micros in any situation. They are very hard on your hairline and your hair can easily be broken off. Micros also itch. Have you considered an updo with goddess braids or flat twists?

Wow, all of these comments are very helpfu. I was planning to wear my hair up. No, wearing my natural hair is not an option. I am recovering from major hair loss in the middle of my head which is also where the itch is. So my hair is currently natural and not completely managable yet.

By the looks of my dress and veil, I have not considered goddess braids or flat twist. Honestly, I don't even know what flat twists are. Lol. I am going to look it up.

Goddess braids would work better with just a tiara. But yes, google flat twist updos and see what you think.

If wearing your natural hair is not an option for you I would go with the micro braids. Patrice's advice for Tree braids is also great, they do give you the illusion of having a weave. Although in my experience the tree braids will give you a weird hairline look when you pull them back or in an updo because of the cornrows. If you really want an updo the micros will probably look better, just ask the braider to ease up on the edges when braiding. The first couple of pics Donna R posted are really cute, similar to what I was thinking of wearing...

Why not wear micros but keep most of the hair unbraided? This way your hair will not look "braided" and you can put it in any style that you choose. That's how I'm going to wear my hair.

Or rather than a weave how about micro bead extentions? They are individually attach to small bunches of your hair strands and they come off fairly easy. They are time consuming to put in and take out, but I was told they last approximately 5 to six months. The hair can be washed and managed like regular hair. Something to consider.

Me personally I think micros are very pretty and depending on how u style them can b very elegant...especially as an updo. I'm going to have twists (I wanted zillions but my hair was too long, so the stylist introduced me to twists...jus like zillions or micros but twists instead of braids) and have received many compliments...not to mention the time u will save getting ready the day of the wedding...I really like the half up half down styles...either way I'm sure u will look beautiful
