Best way to pick order of bridesmaids without offending anyone?

Rhonda, on September 9, 2013 at 2:10 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

How did/will you pick the order bridesmaids walk out at the ceremony? Did you do it by shortest to tallest? Not wanting anyone to feel slighted for standing at the end of the line.

I'd say by height, no one will be offended!

My MOH was next to me. The rest were done in height order.

I plan on having my MOH beside me and the my other best friend beside her, then it'll be my sisters with my oldest (who has actually helped me with stuff) and then my other one who isn't exactly the nicest person to me.

Height and my MOH will be next to me and that's about it. I am tall so every wedding I've been in I have been the last

My MOH is extremely tall so I think shortest to tallest would probably be best. Just wanted to see how everyone else did it.

I've been debating this as well! I'm hoping have the JrBM at the end will help everyone from feeling left out.

I lined my ladies up this way: My sister was first who was my Matron of HOnor, then my daughter who was my Maid of Honor and then I lined my ladies up according to how long I had knwon them. However, they didn't know the reason why they were in the positions they were in, I just told them where I wanted them to stand when they lined up w/o telling them why. No hastle, no offense, no hurt feelings.

I've been in 6 or 7 weddings. I never paid attention to where I stood in-line, I was more concerned with whether or not my escort was hot LOL

I'm doing my moh, three sisters, 2 cousins, then a childhood friend. It wasn't about ranking them so much as the look of the girls next to one another. If someone in your party is going to be offended about where they stand they don't deserve to be part of your day in my opinion.

I have my sister as my MOH, but she is 13 (will be almost 15 by the wedding). And I have a JrBM, who is FH's niece - she will be 11...then I have three grown up girls. Somehow it worked out that their names are alphabetical whether it's by first name or by last name...as in it works in the same order. So i'm doing it that way. Weird, I know...but it also kind of works in height too...

Usually it's by height. I'm a shorty, so I'm always at the end... But I got to walk in first!

I just made my order and didn't ask anyone what they thought about it. Nobody said anything to me so either they didn't care/notice or they knew not to say anything. I did it by who was closest to me/height if it worked.

I had my MOH, Sister, then my two best friends who I just ordered by height, and then my two cousins (also by height) the only one who was out of height order was one of my best friends. She's the shortest, but she was closer to me than my two cousins and I wanted her in that spot. We also had the GM by height and the way we wanted them paired up just worked best that way.

Woe, it should be shortest to tallest, but every wedding I've been in, I have been last because I'm the shortest. But, my BP is uneven so it will look different.

Donʻt have a MOH or matron of honor SO Iʻve been debating drawing straws the night before OR just going shortest to tallest because Iʻm a shorty and one is 5ʻ9 (selfishly donʻt want her blocking me) at the alter

When I was in her wedding, I was really offended that she passed me over for MOH and I have no idea how she picked it cuz it wasnʻt by height or longest known or honor or who did the most or anything and it hurt so much because I had stayed up the latest helping her last minute for that entire week, set up an awesome bachelorette party, had known her the longest, shielded her crazy wedding planner from bitching at her on the day-of, and was taller than the girl 2 places in front of me but smaller than the girl right in front of me. I was DEAD LAST in line and was put with the "extra GM" who was 14yrs old. Iʻd say it doesnt matter but from personal experience it does and thatʻs why Iʻm taking so much time deciding how to do mine.

Have your FH order the guys, then just choose whoever you want to walk with each guy. For my bro's wedding he just asked who I'd rather walk with.

I've got my MOH, then my good friend, then his cousin and sister, it just happens their in height order too, so they'll probably think it's that way.

For my sister's wedding (six bridesmaids) I walked out first, cause nobody else wanted to go first lol.
