Babysitting Rate

Mrs.B-Baby!!, on April 20, 2012 at 7:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

What is a good rate for babysitting for 4-5hrs? I am thinking of paying the babysitter that's going to watch my son for the duration of our reception about $11-$12/hr. I will need her from 7:15 pm to 12 midnight. And I will order a pizza/juice or soda for her and my son to eat back in hotel room.

Thanks so much!

What do you ladies think?

I don't know about a professional babysitter, but I sit for a coworker once in a while and it's usually around $8.. I'll babysit for you! ;D

you were recently married though, is this like an after reception?

That's a good rate, I pay my babsitter about $20.00 for a couple of hours (2) for my 5 y/o when my hubby and I have date night.

That is a good price. Is your son going to be involved in the wedding at all?

I hadn't thought of taking my daughter back to the hotel early. (She is 3)

Most sitters already have a set price/hr and +/kid and will usually half an over time or latenight adjustment if they will be staying after 10... unless your going with a friend, but if you've got someone willing to go straight per hour I say go for it. Your hourly rate sounds about right

Yes our vow renewal is next month

@Bert's Girl, my son will participate in the ceremony but immediately after pictures he will go back to hotel

Ok thanks ladies, This babysitter is 20 years old and we know her from his old daycare center. So I will pay her the $11/hr plus the food. I really do appreciate her assisting us on that evening. I am comfortable with her and my son loves her and will do well leaving with her.

That's totally fair. I was a nanny for a long time. I occasionally got $15 an hour, but that was when I was watching four kids. $11-$12 is perfect!

@ GBAC I also only got $5.00/hr for baby sitting usually one kid and I was 12-13 yrs old.

I think that is a good rate for her.

Since i have my pre schooling credentials and am CPR certified, i charge $15 for kids under 3 and $10 for over three and i also add $5 bucks per extra kid, so if yours is just someone who babysits and doesnt have any training i think $12 is a steal Smiley smile

    I'm usually a big tipper so I always "blow it" when it comes to paying any rate,and just wind up paying what I think I 'd have been excited to get,which is usually very generous;

I say, its your wedding, if you can afford it,pay her as well as you can

I pay my babysitter per kid per day...she charges me $25 a day per child. Ithink it varys based on what your comfortable paying, and who is watching your children!
