August 2020 Wedding... Should i postpone?

My wedding is schedule for August 1st, 2020 in Long Island, NY. I’m so torn about what to do for my wedding... whether I should postpone or not. Two friends of mine who were expected to get married July 2020 had to postpone to 2022 because of limited availability!!!! My venue has no dates available that I can do for the remainder of 2020 if we were to postpone it would have to be some time in 2021. August 1st is a special date to us so if we were to postpone the reception we’d still be getting married that day either way, just a party at some later time. I’m hoping things will be *somewhat* regulated by August, but should I just postpone either way? I don’t want to postpone my wedding for 1-2 years.. What are other August 2020 brides in NY/NJ doing??

Hi, and welcome!
First of all, I'm so sorry about all the stress.
Secondly, it's really hard to say what August is going to look like, but I'm uncertain we'll be fully open by then. Cuomo and the rest of the regional governors are being *very* careful about moving forward, for obvious reasons, but we also have to take into account that the NYC region was the hardest hit.
Best advice we have is: Have a Plan B, be flexible, and don't make decisions until you *have* to.

I'm sorry you're having to think about postponing your August wedding on top of planning your big day.
I agree with the recommendation above. While this is definitely an uncertain time, it seems like plenty of August couples are waiting to make postponement decisions. Of course, everyone's situation is different, so it never hurts to be proactive about plan B!
