Are you having a buffet? What are you serving?

Nancy, on January 13, 2013 at 10:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 25

We have decided on doing a buffet; however, we have not concluded on what exactly to serve.

We thought about serving bbq, with the buns, bbq slaw & normal slaw, baked beans, corn on the cob, green beans, seasoned peaches, ect. from a bbq joint in town.. We are country folk, so Smiley winking

Or doing a bunch of stations.

What about you guys!?

Need the ideas...

We did, for my daughters wedding.

We did several appetizers during cocktail hour. Then the buffet which included:

Baked Columbia River Salmon (the river is about 5 blocks from the hotel, not that they caught the fish there. LOL); Chicken Marsala and Pork Tenderloin. We had sides of Basmati Rice and Roasted Baby Red Potatoes. The salads were Caesar and Spinach.

Dinner for our reception will be buffet style. We've chosen lasagna, italian marinated chicken, scalloped potatoes (caterer suggested cheese shells, but I love scalloped potatoes..so we subbed), veggie medley, tossed and Cesar salad, bread.

I'd be concerned that bbq and corn on the cob would be messy....i personally wouldn't eat corn on the cob at a wedding reception...picking corn outta my teeth the rest of the night wouldn't be pleasant, lol. I guess how the bbq is served would make a difference. some i've had were easy to eat and not be messy, others i wouldn't even dare to attempt. but that's just me,..aside from that concern I'd have the menu you listed sounds yummy.

we are also having a variety of appetizers that will be served during the cocktail hour for the guests while they wait for us to arrive at the reception.

We are having a VERY country wedding!!

However, we went with a Hawaiian BBQ for our buffet, because there is this amazing restaurant we decided we wanted to cater. We are having teriayki chicken, pulled pork, these really yummy noodles and veggies, rice and mac salad.

I am so excited, the food is going to be amazing!!

Oh yey!!! We are also have Hawaiian BBQ for our wedding. we are from 2 totally different cultures and we didn't want one sided feeling left out. At first i was nervous people would not like the food but as the wedding gets closer and more people ask about food, they are like super excited about hawaiian bbq chicken, beef and their amazing mac salad.

I am having a pig roast. My mom's cousin has a large roaster and does pig roasts all the time. I have a caterer providing the side dishes which include:

    - meatballs (my mom insists that we need a second meat since not everyone will eat pork. I cannot think of 1 person on my guest list that won't eat pork, but everyone loves meatballs)

    - macaroni & cheese (we say it is for the kids, but mac&cheese is probably FH's favorite food)

    - roasted potatoes

    - ceaser salad (I think this is an odd salad choice for a pig roast, but my caterer does one good ceaser salad)

    - sweet corn (from my parents farm - they run a farmer's market and raise sweet corn. We froze some last summer for my wedding)

    - buns/rolls

All food is served buffet style

We're doing a couple passed appetizers during cocktail hour - caprese skewers and bruschetta. Then caesar salad and broccoli salad with chicken florentine or jack daniel's pork tenderloin and mashed potatoes, asparagus and mushrooms. Our cake will be the dessert Smiley smile)

Rehearsal dinner is also a buffet with flat iron steak or mahi mahi with baked potatoes, green beans, and glazed carrots!

We're doing a buffet as well. We're definitely having 1 carving station with top round of roast beef, either caribbean chicken or lemon & terragon chicken, a potato martini station (yay!), nd a vegetable medley. We'll also serve key west salad and rolls. Cocktail hour will be passed appetizers incl. brie cheese apple quesadillas, asparagu rolled with cheese, and kielbasa wrapped in a pastry crust. We have our tasting in a few weeks to confirm all of this!

We're having a buffet but still trying to decide whats on it.

Whiskey Roasted Turkey or parmesean crusted chicken

    beef tenderloin

oven roasted red potatoes (FI is trying to convince me to make it mashed potatoes)

and a 1/2 tray of green beans and 1/2 broccoli with a lemon sauce.

We could add a salad for a dollar per person but our caterer said she doesn't recommend it because most people don't even eat it.

Just a fresh fruit display and cheese and cracker at cocktail hour. Its a June wedding so nothing too heavy.

Were doing a buffet also. We are having different stations. For instance a potato station with all different types of them and so forth. That way everyone gets something they like.

Yum! We're doing a bbq buffet too.

Pulled pork sandwiches or bbq chicken sandwiches

    chili cowboy beans

    potato salad

    caesar salad

There's a Costco right across the street from our venue so we'll be grabbing a couple fruit platters to add to the mix.

Marilyn - your food sounds so good!

We're doing a buffet. We don't know what exactly yet or what sides, but:

    Chicken, beef and pasta

    Salad

3 sides (probably including fresh fruit-they have a chocolate fountain that we will probably include, and one side needs to include fresh fruit)

    Breads

We're doing "Action Stations." Essentially a buffet, but with 3 different lines.

Stirfry station: Chicken, Shrimp, Beef, and Pork, Steamed Rice and Fried Rice,

Lomein Noodles, Assorted Fresh Vegetables, and Fried Wonton Chips

Mashed Potato Station: Yukon Gold, Roasted Garlic Russet, and Sweet Potato Mashed with Green Onions, Cheddar Cheese, Parmesan Cheese, Bleu Cheese, Bacon Bits, Sour Cream, Wild Mushroom Sauce, Brown Sugar, Cinnamon, Maple Syrup and Butter

& a prime rib carving station

There will also be salad, bread, etc.

Pretty freaking excited about those mashed potatoes... nom

This is my first time posting! Hi ladies! We are also doing a buffet...mexican style. Tacos to be exact. I love love love tacos so we'll have the three different meats (carne asada, chicken and pork) with all the toppings, rice and beans and either quesadillas or taquitos, we haven't decided yet. It's simple but effective. I can't wait
